"Defaults for everything" and "everything works together by default", you get to pick one ^^;;
Personally I'd say Arch for #1 and Fedora for #2.
For what it's worth, Fedora doesn't really overdo the identity thing. It makes a bunch of choices like any well integrated distro has to, and it does have some basic branding, but that's about it. About the only thing that stands out as a bit too unique is SELinux on by default, but you can just turn that off if you don't want to deal with it and it gets in your way.
