Free speech means the government can’t punish or censor people for their words or beliefs. Foreign nationals have no constitutional right to enter or remain in the U.S., so visas can be revoked for speech. Citizens, however, can say almost anything without criminal penalty—but private employers aren’t the government, so they can fire someone for speech that violates workplace policy or damages reputation. It’s not censorship, it’s consequence.
