This moss is store bought. It's a long process and the rectangle one there is taking longer to establish but it's greening slowly. I soaked it, then cut and fit it to the pot. It's going on 2 seasons now. The process I've seen is that it starts green, goes brown, then slowly and surely the new green buds pop up. I spray it several times a week as not to drown the trees. It also helps before watering. If you water while the more is dry, it becomes hydrophobic and watering is tedious. With it sprayed, i come back 5 minutes later and the water soaks right in to the roots.
