Why you might see “white” on our 100% cacao — and why it’s OK
You may notice a light white bloom on some of our cacao blocks. This is normal with pure, minimally processed cacao.
What it is
• Usually fat bloom: natural cacao butter rising to the surface
• Rarely sugar bloom: from surface moisture
• Always safe — bloom affects appearance, not quality or flavour
Why it happens
Our cacao is 100% pure and contains over 50% natural cacao butter.
Temperature changes during transport or storage can cause cacao butter to re-crystallize on the surface. This happens more in small, artisanal supply chains than in industrial confectionery.
This isn’t candy. Comparing it to mass-produced chocolate (with sugar, emulsifiers, stabilisers) is comparing apples and cacao.
About tempering
Tempering reduces bloom and improves shine and snap — great for bars and confections.
But repeated heating can compromise some heat-sensitive compounds. For drinking and cooking cacao, we prioritise flavour, nutrition, and integrity over cosmetic perfection.
What we’re doing

This is so insane, I played this game for the first time at Xmas with my family. I say the first time because for the 40+ years of my life my parents had always put a time limit on the game so we never got to the real end, so this is why I say the first time, because this time we went all the way to 1 winner and 3 losers! It was brutal, absolutely savage. I wasn’t able to buy the properties I needed, a little bit of misfortune, the dice not quite rolling for me, but very quickly I was way behind everyone else, houses and hotels were being purchased and I still didn’t have a set. I would say for 90% of the game, 5 hours, I was drowning, that was the feeling, I couldn’t see a way out, it was impossible to get round the board and not pay out more than the £200 I was earning. Playing a game you cannot win and not being able to exit the game was the worst feeling! I felt sick in my stomach, and relief when finally I was fully out and I could stop this horrific game! The sickness I was feeling was the deep realisation this is exactly how the game of life is and that the vast majority are in this exact position. Years of studying Bitcoin and economics had not given me this physical sensation before. There are those with hard assets and those without, and those without will pay for those with to buy more! Brutal! Absolutely brutal reality of how the game is rigged! Thank God for Bitcoin! We have hope! We are changing the game!

Something I would like to share. Where I live is a giant native tree, Caracoli, the indigenous people of the territory say it may be more than 500 years old, it is huge, majestic and beautiful. I walk past it every day. Each day I have the thought that maybe someone planted that tree, and that every tree we as humans can plant has the possibility of supporting the ecosystem for hundreds of years into the future and provide for many generations to come.
