I think I would distinguish between Satoshi's discovery of how to bind a ledger to thermodynamics using computers (because computers bind math to electricity, jeuls to discrets sets of operations), from God creating everything. There can only be (and must be) one uncaused cause. If Satoshi was God, that would be a second incarnation and that would contradict the first one.
This kind of goes to why Bitcoin the medium has to be distinguished from money itself, the ordering principle that Bitcoin the physical object approximates.The infinite cannot be a product of the finite. Not just science, but the whole modern intellectual tradition that has been (surprise surprise) pretty much one to one with the rise of the usury system that took over wester civilization. Subjegation to Mammon.
They've spent 800 years trying to rewrite St. Thomas in a way that writes God out of the story. I don't think they really made much of a dent.
St. Thomas also knew that time was discrete. He also saw vertical causation, what we are calling signatures coming from above. He didn't described something called the aevum, not as nested time chains, but as nested rational intellects with wills, ordering principles, living superstructure, extending from the singular will of God to the time chain. Like light through a nine layer prism. They are outside of time, so they are unchanging and not embodied. God created this hierarchy of being above time to create, structure and sustain the world.
Modern science has gathered a lot of data and descriptions, but it's been hobbled and twisted into nonsensical interpretations of things, trying to make material it's own cause, or turn God into a watch maker, rather than a loving, present, continuous creator. Our Father.
In science, philosophy, theology, everything... the pervasive bias has been to get rid of God or make Him far away or turn ourselves into our own to god. Because of pride and shame and the love of sin. The usual father-avoiding reasons.
But what a foolish thing to do. We are pretty amazing as we actually are. Even in our fallen state. God is the signer but He made us in His image too. We are also rational intellects with free will. And we get bodies here in creation. We get to grasp and cosign, or not, some of His order into being.

My current model of it is that addresses are all possible state locations (addresses). That's location in a logical sense, but maps to the space we experience because of the way energy states transform.
Your will acts through the keys which map to your body. You are a signer, cosigning the transactions that life offers you. You have a rational intellect that grasps the order (abstract, non physical) superstructure. That makes reality intelligible to you, so that you can choose to cosign more order into the physical world. This is what it actually means to have intelligence, and be a moral actor.

I may just not get the whole block chain fractal yet. My way of thinking of it is that the present is just one block or tensor covering the state of every address. Time is a squence of stepwise locally integrated transformations via a kernel function on the whole keyspace. (A convolution.) One key space state to the next key space state.

I think fees will work fine to keep miners in business, but that may be what happens anyway. It remains to be seen if the current granularity is sufficient in the long term to settle l2 and l3. The overall psychological effect I've seen of Bitcoin and privacy tech on people is positive. But you generally come into it deeply because you need it. And you usually need it because you have woken up to the system we are living in and how it has effected you the people you love and society in general. And how evil and dangerous it actually is. If you think that's a mental illness, you are the one who is still in the matrix.
Self sovereign money gives you peace and allows you to think long term. Privacy reduces anxiety and gives you a sense of dignity and freedom.

Information wants to be free.
Distillation points to a couple of things:
1. AI is totally porous. Access is binary. Prompt injection, data poisoning and distillation can really be solved, just mitigated
2. AI companies have no moat but hardware. They are databases and if you sell access, the contents can be exfiltrated.

Jack! Thank you thank you thank you. I'm excstatic that my ramblings are providing some value. I'm grateful for the chance to engage with the work you and Nick (and the rest of the circle that's forming) are doing.
I wasn't so much coming from a GR perspective as expecting that if the ledger model is true, it will explain the appearant conflict between QM and GR and the holes in both and just trying to mine that. It seems fruitful to say the least. I think my primary frames are just Thomistic metaphysics and some intuititions from neural networks that aught to apply to time as a transforming sequence of keyspace states. (I've done a bit of work with artificial neural networks.)
You've given me a lot to think about as usual and I'm heads down on a pretty deep bit of code so it may take me a couple of days to cogitate and give you a fullsome response, but I will!
I can say that I totally agree that a wave is just a description of successive states and not properly a thing. (Rieficarion casts a lot of shadows, in general.)
I think there is something.more I might be able to say about memory/information and order that I didn't grok when I was writing the essay. But the thoughts aren't fully formed. I need to let em cook.

What about God?
The lesson of entropy that Bitcoin teaches us about the physical time chain, that physics bears out when that lesson is applied, is precisely that man creates nothing. We only participate in creation as cosigners by our choices.
And, correct me if I am wrong, is this not also precisely what St. Thomas says about money, explicitly: that it does not reproduce?
One thing that actually just clicked for me in light of Jacks comment and what I learned while writing my little essay, is that another way to say what Jack is saying (I think, correct me) is that money IS the model memory, a form (in the Platonic sense, even) accruing order that the rational will cosignings. Either we choose higher goods, or we err and choose lesser goods.
We choose to participate in bring higher order that comes from source into being by coordinating our work or recycle the goods of the world under fiat (fictions of human value creation, dollars, ape jpegs, rent seeking, interest) under entropy.
The conclusion is not only that simple spam is pure entropy, but that non-monetary data with "financial" use cases that have these vaneers of being money-related are perhaps worse, because they are actually fiat, aka fictions of value creation.
Word magic is fraud. We don't create.

Ideally they would. Easy for me to say coming in and Monday morning quarterbacking, but it seems like this whole situation is wildly political for no reason. The conversation would ideally have been:
"Hey, we're behind on some maintenance. Let's drop some cruft, tighten some unnecessarily loose data limits that are feeding non-monetary use and kill the inscriptions hack."
Then we would have a calmly go through back testing against the chain to make sure we didn't chop any legit monetary use and roll the thing. It's not that hard.
And then I assume there would be hot cocoa with marshmallows. ☕
Obviously that ignores that there are incentives, financial interests, rivalries, reputations, egos and tribes. I'm not surprised this is hard for non-technical reasons. My point is just how purely non-technical problem actually is here.

I think that overstep was more than an overstep and they also neglected mainenance, like fixing the inscriptions hack. Without accusing anyone of anything, I can't help but notice that both the actions and inactions all pointed in the same direction of allowing shitcoinery on the network.
Bitcoin is money. Anything that can be done to tighten parameters to shut down non-monetary uses that crop up or sneak in a unintended consequences of other changes, without breaking existing monetary uses, should be done because that is responsible maintenance.
It narrows the state space, reduces the attack surface and supports keeping the network distributed by keeping the block light.
From a purely technical perspective (I've got no tribal dog here, and my local community if very core-centric, and I am friends with core devs) 110 really looks like a maintenance catch-up after some neglect.
Don't shoot but that's my honest read on the technical picture and somebody who has built and maintained software-based systems for a very long time.
Instead of fighting about this we could be focusing on making sure that 110 is a technically correct tightening of the bolts. No reason it should be anything else.
If there are specific, concrete issues, I am sure they can be fixed if brought to light.

If I can tie in an engineer's perspective on this: this is exactly why I do support 110. Telos is how you do rational software architecture and make rational maintenance decisions.
If the purpose of the protocol is money, then we can objectively decide what to do as software maintainers. If we are allowing space for non-monetary uses to slip through which can be closed without hurting monetary use, responsible software maintenance is tightening those constraints.
This simplifies the state space, reduces attack surface and supports decentralization by keeping the chain lighter.
I haven't found any arguments against 110 on valid technical grounds. It appears to be correct software maintenance. Rational node software maintenance is important to Bitcoin.
I also agree that spam will probably be priced out in the long run, so I'm not going to dramatize it, but that is not an excuse for us to willfully neglect proper maintenance.
Does that make sense?
