Privacy is a server-side function (i.e. relays). You can't achieve privacy on the open Internet; only some obfuscation through encryption or privacy-requests (that aren't always honored, same as deletion requests). You either need to control access through a dedicated server, or through a true P2P system (where the client doubles as a server).
I.e. you have to have the notes in your physical possession, to control access.
Facebook is not the Internet. It's a server. That's why they can control access.

Yeah, I have that in the threads, already. I list the zaps at the top, as if they were normal kind 1 or 1111 replies, and you can reply, zap, react, or boost them. So, you can use Jumble to have a zap-only thread below any kind. Just zap the zaps and add comments to the zaps. 😂

I decided to not review #wisp because I found bugs, but I can see him actively fixing them, so I'm gonna wait for it to mature a bit more and then do a full review.
But I like it. Very smooth and simple and fast. Native is always a bit faster, ngl. Also, love black-on-orange scheme. 🍊
The main problem is that the content skews follows-based, rather than relay-based, tho. Doesn't really have anything to do with this particular client. 🤷🏻‍♀️ People switching from Primal won't notice.

Most developers on here don't seem to like simple things. Anytime you come up with something that is extremely elegant, reliable, and easy to implement and use, they come right back at you with something convoluted, messy, and garish, for no good reason.
Oh, that sounds great, girly, but those are rooky codes. We need to pump that code up. Let's add some doo-dads, transpose it to the third dimension, add a landing port for Superman, rewrite it in Rust...
They just get off on everything being complicated because that is more impressive to other developers. Why write 5 lines of code when you could write 104710 lines, KWIM?
Besides, if they just wrote the same 5 lines you did, then they would be _reusing your idea_ which is apparently the absolute horror. I mean,

It's not complete. I am using three more kinds, for signing commits, releases, and transferring ownership of the repo. And I added more Tags to the repo announcement.
I've been rapid-prototyping an implementation that uses them and I am still sorting out a few edge cases, such as forking and cloning to localhost instead of a public domain.

I've been doing it algorithmically, with a three-tries-you're-out-for-this-session method. Which means that it's slowish for about 5 minutes and then speeds up, as it puts those relays in timeout.
I don't think I can remove that, as it also covers the common habit of having relays in your list that you can't actually write to, and cases where relays are down temporarily for maintenance.
Do you have a cronjob to update the liveliness events, or how does it work?

No, people will not run large, public relays for free, forever. These relay are already gigantic and they're quickly growing. They eat up serious resources, and they are only performant if they are tightly managed and cleverly architected. Much (most?) of the traffic they receive is bots, spam, scammers, attackers, and scrapers.
Not to mention having to deal with the material people store on the relay and the possible personal or legal consequences of having that on your computer.
People don't run Bitcoin nodes for free, either. They run them to manage _their own money_. The way Bitcoin is designed, you automatically help other people manage their money, when you manage your own, as it is all on the same chain. And storing something on Bitcoin costs you Bitcoin. It isn't free storage.
Relays are not a chain. Almost everyone can and will only store and manage the notes they are personally interested in, and maybe those of their friends and contacts. That is enough, for basic communication (if your clients have AUTH and outboxes implemented), but larger relays facilitate wider reach. They aren't all going to go away... so long as they bring the person running it higher benefit and reward, than cost and bother.

Speaking as the mom of a computer science student:
Fewer young people are entering the field, and the ones that do are increasingly focusing on specialties that offer geographically-tied jobs. Crypto has got to be the absolute worst field for new cs hires, as there are zero entry-level positions, zero job security, zero geolocation, and zero on-ramp. The whole space is completely dominated by a handful of experienced devs running 194710 agents, and there is no room for advancement. Not to mention that the whole thing is a political mindfield.
It's better to just work in a hospital programming prosthetics, or something, or manage drones for excavators, take your income in fiat, and stack sats.
The only thing more of a dead-end career than crypto is AI.

But parsing all of Wikipedia and Project Gutenberg did burn me out, a bit. 😂 That's not as much data, as I'm used to, but it's even less standardized because of all of the different editors.
I wouldn't have even tried, without AI. Still took weeks, since it has to be a continuous parser for incoming deltas. The Forever Parsing Project. 😂

Running it in a container hardens the app-level data security, but if you want true multitenant, your best bet is using our enterprise mode and going full pod deployment. Still building and testing that, so YMMV.
Each feature has been proven, but I keep refactoring and breaking stuff, and @npub1qdj…fqm7 is then going to have fun correcting what I built, so you'll just have to be patient.
No, we still haven't decided where to host this. It's complicated. Long story. Cut us some slack. We're still doing Alex revamp and big data migrations in parallel to this, in addition to juggling all of our servers.

To be clear:
You can also use your normal git CLI to interact with this git server. You don't need the web interface. That's just to make it more human-friendly and allow you to sign events with the browser extension. The whole thing is an API.
The people and bots with write-access to the instance's default relays have full permissions. People and bots who can Nostr AUTH have public access, with mild rate-limiting. Everyone else is a guest and have to behave themselves. 😁

I set up a trusted NIP-05 list on wss://thecitadel.nostr1.com. It was getting spammy. The repo view on #aitherboard is full of bot spam from thecitadel. Makes it useless.
I don't know if I did it properly, tho.

I've got the repos displayed for GitHub, GitLab, Gitea/Forgeo and OneDev. I have no idea how to render repo content for #grasp.
Anyone know how that works?
