You misunderstood my point.
I’m not saying Nostr is valuable because some people are absent.
I’m saying it’s valuable because I can finally choose my signal-to-noise ratio without algorithms force-feeding me outrage and lowest-common-denominator content.
If the same dynamics that ruined other platforms fully migrate here, then yes, Nostr risks becoming less interesting too.
The protocol stays free. My attention stays mine. That’s the point.

This often happens in ‘open’ protocols: a city is built without a centre, in the belief that absolute freedom is enough to bring it to life.
But without a sense of direction, people come in, look around, get bored and leave.
Too much choice on #Nostr often ends in choosing nothing.
Confusion reigns supreme, and the appeal feels almost nonexistent.
Too many clients.
Too many relays.
Too many ways to do the same thing.
No clear narrative.
No real sense of “this is what happens here.”
For normal people the experience is often:
> “Okay… now where do I go?
> Who should I follow?
> Which app am I supposed to use?
> Why does this place feel empty or fragmented?”
And when a platform forces users to make ten decisions before they even feel enjoyment, most people won’t choose. They’ll leave.
The problem isn’t just UX.
It’s cultural identity.
People don’t join social networks to “own the protocol.”
They join to:
feel alive,
be seen,
find their tribe,
have fun,
desire something.
Nostr still speaks mostly in the language of infrastructure: keys, relays, censorship resistance, protocol freedom.
Important things, yes.
But emotionally cold for the average person.
Technology alone does not create culture.
At best, it prepares the ground.
People stay where they feel presence, rhythm, atmosphere, identity.
Not where they have to configure the world before using it.

I’ll most likely carry on using Wisp even if I have to enter my nsec, but this change of direction really rubs me up the wrong way.
All you developers have constantly been telling us not to put our nsec everywhere and to use tools like Amber, and now you’re changing tack.
Of course, there are plenty of other Nostr clients one can use, but I like Wisp and I’ve been getting all the normies I know to use it alongside Amber because I’ve explained to them the importance of their own nsec key.
How am I supposed to explain to them that with the next Wisp update, it won’t be like that anymore?

Real bitcoiners spend their bitcoin.
They don't just sit on them waiting for the next cycle.
They use them for things that last, that hold value, that reflect the way they've chosen to live.
An original oil painting can't be printed in unlimited supply.
It has no programmed inflation.
And it won't disappear with the next update.

Today I worked on the light and the overall atmosphere. I used the palette knife more than usual, it's not new to me, but every time it gives me the same feeling: freedom of gesture.
Less control, more natural results.
It's risky, things can go wrong.
But when it works, you can tell.
Not finished yet.

Capisco perfettamente cosa intendi.
La parte più difficile non è scoprire qualcosa di nuovo, ma convivere con il fatto che molti non sono ancora pronti a vederlo.
La caverna di Platone è una metafora potente proprio per questo: quando qualcuno cresce guardando solo ombre, la luce all’inizio sembra una menzogna. E spesso chi prova a mostrarla viene visto come strano o ingenuo.
Bitcoin e NOSTR, al di là della tecnologia, per me rappresentano soprattutto questo: la possibilità di riprendersi tempo, pensiero e sovranità. Non risolvono tutto, ma aprono una porta.
E forse non possiamo “convincere” gli altri. Possiamo solo vivere in modo coerente con ciò che abbiamo capito, aspettando che qualcuno inizi a farsi domande da solo.

Being early is heavy.
I sell my paintings only for Bitcoin.
Not because I have absolute certainty, but because I can no longer ignore what I’ve seen.
Those who understand the importance of Bitcoin often don’t feel privileged: they feel out of time.
Understanding Bitcoin does not mean having arrived. It means having arrived early. And arriving early is uncomfortable: it makes you lonely, exposes you to doubt, and forces you to question rules many still believe are eternal.
Bitcoin is not a religion, nor a shortcut.
It is a hard tool that demands study, discipline, and responsibility.
The truth is this:
understanding Bitcoin does not make you special. It makes you responsible.
Responsible for continuing to study.
Responsible for not mythologizing it.
Responsible for accepting that you might also be wrong.
Perhaps the only real privilege is having sensed, before others, that the rules of the game were never immutable.
And once that suspicion is born, you can never return to feeling at ease as before.

My mind goes back through every doubt, every uncertainty. And then, slowly, they dissolve. What remains is a coherent world — born from different days, different stories, but always the same way of seeing. I didn't look for it. It came on its own.
Maybe that's why letting them go is so hard.

This is the moment I love and hate at the same time.
Every new painting is falling in love.
The sketch is the courtship — patches of colour, shadows barely suggested, everything still open.
I'd want to rush to the end, the way you want to skip ahead when you're caught up in something.
But you can't.
The paint would muddy, the next strokes need the base to shine.
You have to wait.
So I wait, and I look.
This is "REFRAIN" — a view from the beach of Chiavari, just beginning.

But Wisp on iOS is a good thing: it’s more accessible, there are more users, and it’s livelier. And anyone who wants Tor can easily use a VPN.

Legend has it that Salvador Dalí paid for dinners by drawing on the back of his checks.
Nobody knows if it's entirely true. Maybe it was Picasso. Maybe the details grew over time, as beautiful stories tend to do.
But the mechanism it describes is real:
Dalí had turned his name into a currency.
The check wasn't worth the money written on it, it was worth something because he had touched it.
The restaurateur didn't cash it because he understood something fundamental:
value doesn't live in the object, it lives in the consensus around it.
This isn't some quirky principle of contemporary art.
It's the principle behind every currency in history.
Gold is valuable because enough of us decided it was.
The dollar is valuable because we trust whoever issues it.
Bitcoin is valuable because a sufficient number of people chose to believe in it, with no one forcing them to.
The difference between a banknote and a random piece of paper isn't the material.
It's the shared story we build around it.
Dalí may have known this. Or maybe he didn't.
But the legend knows it on his behalf.

Completely agree — these bridges are what turn freedom tech from a niche experiment into something people actually use daily.
I'd add one more to your list: a Nostr client with read-only follows of Instagram accounts. Services like imginn.com already let you browse Instagram anonymously — imagine that built into a Nostr feed, so you could follow your favorite painters or artists without needing an account or feeding the algorithm. That's the kind of onramp that makes people stay.
The daily usage numbers you're seeing are the proof.

Bitcoiners on Twitter make me laugh.
They want a monetary revolution, but can’t take the smallest step: switching apps.
“Bitcoin will change the world”… yet they stay where the only thing that changes is the algorithm.
On Nostr, they might get paid.
On Twitter, they are the product.
But hey, at least there they feel “seen.”
