Oh jeez. It’s probably something I have configured wrong. That said, I’ve had similar issues sending zaps and receiving DMs from Amethyst users (I’m on Primal using iOS). Pretty sure the DM problem is a relay thing, but I’ve also had success going to other apps to send zaps like fountain seems to work pretty good.

Interesting take. Ultimately, I think the biggest draws right now are the value for value principle, decentralization, and censorship resistance. The development of cool functionality and add ons I believe can be a big draw too. I suppose it’s just a matter of showing people. But to your other point, I can’t think of any non-nostr social media where people aren’t jerks haha

Fractional-Reserve Banking - I’ve never heard it more eloquently put than in the Bedford Falls Bank Run scene from “It’s a Wonderful Life” (1946). George Bailey, played by James Stewart, reasons with a mob of people who all want their money at once. Oh, it’s a waxing poetic. If you haven’t watched the scene, I suggest you do.
Stewart says, "The money's not here. Your money's in Joe's house. That's right next to yours and then the Kennedy house and a hundred others. You're lending them the money to build and then they're going to pay you back as best they can. What are you going to do, foreclose on them?"
I had never really tried to understand previously, just kind of accepted things the way they were. I also never really got anywhere asking people for help in understanding the financial system. After watching that scene, I was almost convinced the system could work.
Stewart had a way with words. I like Satoshi's words better.

No, I’m not selling a shirt. Recently, I was out with my family and a street musician was playing saxophone. He was amazing. He was playing Take Five by Dave Brubeck (one of my all time favorites) when I handed my daughter a couple of bucks to put in his case. We walked to our car and he started playing my wife’s favorite song from Midnight in Paris, put a huge smile on her face.
On the drive home, thought to myself… that’s the last time I’m not going to introduce myself to a musician I appreciate. That’s the last time I won’t try to tell someone like that about #nostr - so they can take that talent to a place where value is appreciated with value on a global scale.
I put my damn logo on a damn shirt and wear that shirt everywhere I go to prompt a conversation so I never forget again.

Maybe it’s just because I love those tasty little orange mints, but this image amuses me. I never liked the term #orangepill. In fact, I can’t convince anybody of anything. That’s why I don’t directly try anymore to tell people about #bitcoin. I love observing the community on Nostr because it is about implementation of the technology - the layer 2, layer 3 solutions. People just want money to work and then to go about their day.
What has been your approach to talking about Bitcoin to people who matter in your life?

I’m Rollz McGuyver. I’ve been on Primal for a short time, mostly observing passively. Now I’m excited to participate! I just made my first post recently. After learning about Bitcoin, it eventually led me here.
Tbh, Nostr reminds me of the dawn of social media (Facebook in the early days), except this is different for obvious reasons. I feel like this is a community that nurtures and supports people who want to provide value.
It has encouraged me to start a podcast. Really, it’s just an excuse for me to meet and talk to people who share common interests - which are audio production, recording studio, making music… oh yeah, and decentralization protocols that lead to people being appropriately valued for what they do!
