In order to build a toilet (restroom),
the following are required:
- A basic toilet seat without a flush: 1500–2000 shekels
- Toilet seat cover: 100 shekels
- Bidet sprayer: 30 shekels
- Silicone: 150 shekels
Total: equivalent to about 1000 USD.
These are only the supplies for the toilet seat itself. I haven’t even asked yet about the prices of wood and tarpaulins. Imagine that this is just the cost of the seat alone for a toilet made of fabric and sheets.

and they were so happy.

We may not have much.

Have you ever tried Gaza-style vermicelli?
It’s very simple, but it gives warmth and the feeling of old family gatherings.
It made me feel like I was sitting in my warm home, not in a cold tent.

Our tent has become colder than a freezer… if we put food inside, it would freeze before we even reach the fire.

Tomorrow is Youssef’s birthday 🎂
Not his first birthday,

I posted this two days ago, then disappeared because the internet stopped due to heavy rain.
My tent flooded,
and I couldn’t keep my children warm or dry our belongings. I spent the day moving from place to place, escaping the water.🥺💔

Just one day before the war…😔
On Friday, October 6, Osama’s grandfather brought him a gift he had been dreaming of — a brand-new scooter.
He spent the whole day riding it around the house, laughing, singing, and trying every move he had ever seen in videos.

I’m still afraid.
When I hear loud noise in the street, my heart tightens — for a moment I think it’s a funeral.
When a car speeds by, I feel like it’s a missile coming toward us, and I cover my ears.
When something falls and makes a loud sound, my heart races — it feels like an explosion.
And when my children step outside the tent… I get scared.
Scared of bombing, of noise, of loss — of everything that could happen in a second.
I’m still afraid…
We haven’t moved on, and maybe we never will.

Of course, I hope they never feel the suffering we or our children have endured. I wish for peace for all of us.
But we also need real, tangible support. I feel guilty as a mother for not being able to warm my children, enroll them in kindergarten, or even give them chocolate.
