Of course it’s an issue but mempool filters are not the fix for it. Once confirmed, your node will still download and store the tx.
I argue that conversation is needed, just blindly following either camp is not the solution.

In a truly open protocol filters will never fully work. They benefit users by keeping the protocol relatively usable. But here’s the big but: this whole thing is only about mempool filters has nothing to do with what your node will accept as valid tx sooo it’s not that big of a deal

I wanted to write a witty note about energy politics in Europe quoting Mark Renton’s famos “choose life” speech…. but, we didn’t choose life. Unlike Mark, we didn’t choose heroin either. We chose suicide.
(Unelected) Politicians traded decades of cheap Russian gas for expensive American LNG and called it “energy independence.”
Now our industry flees while we pay 4x more for energy than our competitors.
At least Mark had a way out.

This sounds crazy but it’s completely accurate. I just spent 6 weeks in Venezuela and I was lucky enough to learn about this exchange in the first few days. Inflation is running hot again, when I got there the official bs/usd rate was 78:1 when i left it was 94:1. In six weeks. The black market rate is around 130:1.
