the curling channel I watch recently changed to restrict comments to channel subscribers. It's not a 100% foolproof method, but it has cut down on the trolling quite a bit. (And of course that may not be as effective for a more general audience channel.)

from what I can tell, the Gitlab issue about no node.js is just that the node instance was split out into a separate image, and the submitter wasn't aware of this (and/or the Mastodon folks didn't document it very well). Assuming their docker-compose.yml file is accurate, you shouldn't see any issues there.
Since you already know how to clone and build Mastodon, building a Docker image from that should be straightforward, and the six year old (eww) docs should probably be sufficient.

I have told my friends that I don't particularly hate Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, or Barrett, even when I think they are very wrong. I respect their opinion and legal reasoning even when I vehemently disagree with them. If they were the far right wing of the Court, I'd be pretty okay with that.
Having those voices gives us balance. Having intellectually dishonest voices like Alito's or Thomas', or flat out liars like Trump and his MAGA cult, gives us a dangerous imbalance.

this may sound paranoid, but if I don't want something discoverable, I don't post it anywhere public at all. I certainly haven't gotten death threats, but I've had my share of internet stalkers over the years (mostly on usenet, ages ago).
And since I'm an old codger, who isn't used to using hashtags, I don't feel strongly if someone wants to tag my posts. (I think I'm not popular enough for that to happen anyway.)

the usual challenge to ending Electors is that it would require a Constitutional amendment. I can't see any amendment passing right now.
I would really love to see all states do what NE and ME do, and assign electors by district. Yes that would exacerbate gerrymandering problems, but it would encourage candidates to campaign in purple districts in deep red or blue states, instead of focusing on just a handful of swing states.
