Since Bitcoin Core v30 the "datacarriersize is increased to 100,000 by default, which effectively uncaps the limit (as the maximum transaction size limit will be hit first)" https://bitcoincore.org/en/releases/30.0/
The default value in the previous Bitcoin Core version was 83 bytes, that is enough for monetary use cases, e.g. Peg-In transactions to the Liquid sidechain require an OP-RETRUN size of 36 bytes.

I have been wearing zero-drop shoes for three years. Start slowly and train your foot muscles and calves like you would your biceps. Pay attention to proper posture—that was my biggest obstacle. Your Achilles will thank you. Decades of wearing supportive shoes leads to weak feet. The beginning is difficult. But once you've learned to control your foot muscles individually after a while, it becomes really fun. Plan on at least a few months for this. It's worth it!

So we are on the same line with the power the node runners should have over their mempool. I will definitively use the filters and try to get only transactions into my mempool, with the usecase of Bitcoin as money. I do not want to host jpgs, runes or dumb messages in the OP_RETURN field on my hard drive.
Are BRC-20-Token responsible for the UTXO bloat? What started 04-2023? I do not think that the issue of spam filling up the blockchain is massively overblown. The UTXO count doubled from Q2/23 to Q2/24! A part of the node's RAM has to be used for this non-monetary use of the blockchain.

I'm in the camp where filters do work. And as a node runner I want to control what gets into my mempool. It is unacceptable that future versions of Bitcoin Core will restrict this option. Feel free to convince me, that it is a progress for Bitcoin as a monetary network, when the power of the node runners is reduced.

When checking my listening Knots Node on https://bitnodes.io/.
Then after pressing the CHECK NODE button, the line below turns green to indicate that the node is operational.
But after clicking on that link with the node's address, the new side states that this node is UNREACHABLE. The same status is provided through the API call https://bitnodes.io/api/v1/nodes/<ip>-<port>/
Does anyone experience the same or has an explanation for this?

Imho, the coins that the miners have to sell in order to finance their expenses are dwarfed against the inflows of the new big buyers (companies, institutions, nation states, wealthy individuals). This is the point that differs from previous cycles.
What is left to force a bull into a bear is the selling of OGs / LTHs in the rally.

On Umbrel V<1.0 an installed Proton-VPN with the GUI works fine: A Bitcoin full node in listening mode behind the Proton-VPN.
But on Umbrel V>=1.0 the underlying Linux OS is very restricted and I have not figured out yet, how to install and configure all modules that Proton-VPN needs. There is some issue with storing the credentials:

Ok, I understand.
I have all this stuff running in a VirtualBox Linux VM with Umbrel installed. The additional resources are peanuts for my server.
If you cannot use a local Bitcoin Explorer, you must be aware that a public Bitcoin Explorer will log your IP and your query data, e.g. transaction ID. This can then be linked to you via a query to your ISP. If you want/need to go this route, then a VPN would be helpful to obfuscate the last step.

But what I meant was this: Do you have a local tool (see my screenshot of the URL http://btcnode.local:3006/ = http://192.168.178.62:3006/) installed to retrieve information about transactions or addresses, whereby this tool interacts only with your local Bitcoin node to get this information from your locally stored blockchain? So you can track your ongoing transactions without any privacy leaks.
