Our new PHEV in 2017 got us from 180miles/tank to 1,000 miles/tank... after a lifetime of 25mpg (my 1971 Volvo) it was so completely strange to go to 100mpg+! (11kpl to 44kpl)
Electricity prices can spike during the transition to nuclear ==> maybe PHEV is more practical until the infrastructure deploys.

We used to have the french blood orange soda at THX. Company provided tho' only secretaries were allowed to access the closet where they resided. A big slob ill-tempered fat lady controlled access (I was always afraid she would sit on me).
Thus the secretaries played a game where they would hide them in aforesaid closet then insert three or four in the fridge to be cold just before lunchtime! Occasoinally I'd finish debugging or whatever and get to the fridge at 11:45 and... yumm!
Once in the fridge all'a fair in engineering & personnel!

Ahh yeah forgot I have the gold disc release too. It was nice but the EQ is off. The album to look for, if you don't have it, is the copy of DSOTM for SQ/quadraphonic. That EQ on that vinyl release was the best.
Partially coz on CD they could pump up da booma booma to make the buyers happy. On the quad-sq disc they had to be careful with the levels. So it's more mmm... civilized and you can hear everything clearly. That's the only copy of DSOTM I enjoy at all these days.

I never managed to find a state cheaper to live in than California. I did the "software troubador" thing for a few years to go from state to state and check things out. Vegas (Henderson)+suburbs of Dayton were among the worst for costs.

One of the reviews was hilarious- it had a cookiecutter AI reading. Then at the bottom they forgot to delete the ChatGPT ephemera in their copy+paste so the review was flagged by a reviewer who saw it!
Kinda negates the entire value of Vine if the reviewers are just submitting AI glop and not their own experiences with the product.

I like Win11 but it is really a "disconnected OS" it works best in a non-network environment.
Am sorta not being facetious here that is how I use it. I RDP into it from my Mac, which has the network conn.
Once every few months I connect Win11 to the net to download some AI turd other than that everything gets funneled through local networking+MacOS.
As a fully disconnected system I find Win11 to be a very nice OS. I sorta consider it to be the next iteration of DOS 3.3
So...
Linux is a great connected OS.
Win11 is best used as a non-network OS.

if you were wearing a handgun at a demonstration wouldn't you want to stand back and let someone else help a person having trouble? I mean, you're really taking a lot of responsibility in and "a and b" situation where (a) you're wearing a pistol and (b) you're actively mingling with the crowd, knowing you're carrying + could err at any time. Again, seems like his fault. Feel bad for his family coz they raised him.

This reminds me of the old PBY Catalina, which really should be back in production, incidentally. They were retired in like 1952 but Canada kept using them effectively for forest fires until I think 2017, when the maintenance guy got too old and the parts/repair chain was wearing thin.

When I was living there a few years back I got the impression that various agencies are encouraging people to leave.
After the next big earthquake a lot of land will be cleared out for parks+large lots for the wealthy.
For example, cities from Long Beach to Malibu are on prime real estate but embody dilapidated infrastructure. Best to start over with 1-2 acre lots that won't risk a lot of lost life when earthquakes hit.
So I wasn't at all surprised when it turned out the recent fire-hit homes aren't being rebuilt.
I could be wrong but sure seems like they want everyone to move away [perhaps inland from] the Inglewood Fault, leaving big parcels behind with low population density. Might be nice, really, since the various towns were transformed into sh**land during World War 2.

So, Philips 66 and friends are planning on bulldozing the refinery properties and developing the properties for commerce and probably residential. Solely because they consider the refineries to be a liability, whereas port development is seen as an asset.
So... California- why not just annex the entire regions by imminent domain? I don't see why not. Cut these guys off at the balls.
Or, conditionally allow them to keep the refineries and keep going. Gotta wonder what California's govt is doing. They have the upper hand.

When I was working I had this policy that women shouldn't be software engineers but if we were stuck with them they might as well be productive.
So this chinese chick in Canada nobody would help her get started so I sat down with her and taught her basic linux skills and how to have a little edge in her dev etc.
Was pretty fun all the girls in the office wanted to know me after that. The mgr was an Indian socialist w/ a british accent who hated the US so it also got her dictatorial nazi-like approval.

Am pretty sure he had his big toe in a hole in the bottom of the pool and was using it to save the town downhill from being completely flooded! Ghislaine looks very worried and I'm sure she's headed to the phone to get help!
