you guys can handle this, you know why? because the EU is a big part of why we have such good refrigerants nowadays
there was an EU directive 15 years ago that mandated air conditioners in cars used refrigerants with a low enough global warming potential, which led to the development and subsequent mass adoption of r-1234yf in the vast majority of cars in the US even
it did bring added flammability risk and so the EU did a bunch of testing and found that while it was technically more dangerous in a fire this was only slight and would require a fire so immense you have other problems
you guys can do this you just need to stop arguing and get going, identify what’s keeping from having aircon and make that easier and probably subsidize it somehow

yeah exactly, well mostly
aircons can use different refrigerants due to needing to operate regularly in a wider temperature band and because they do so much more work they often have a much larger charge (amount of refrigerant) per unit
there are differences but today their so minor as to not matter much

refrigeration systems contain a pretty limited amount of the stuff but they only emit it if they leak, and we have much more environmentally good refrigerants now anyways

I gotta remember to try out printing it PET-GF when I’m back at uni, it seems like an awesome filament
sure it’s not as strong as CF-Nylon but good printability, heat resistance, and creep resistance is pretty darn compelling
I also wanna try using Polymaker’s PETG Max (they call it *PolyMax PETG* but I think that’s dumb), it’s basically “impact-resistant PETG”
they make it seem like it’s a PETG that’s their answer to PCTG, honestly I kinda wonder if it’s a PETG/PCTG alloy
Polymaker I like you normally but you need more material selection and to actually tell people what you’re selling. It’s called PVB, not PolySmooth, just tell us what it is so we know what to expect.

robotics competition over, we got 12th place out of the 36 teams who made it to the finals :NepHappy:
honestly not a bad showing, and the science team which I was on went pretty well given the entire science system got disconnected partway through (amongst other shenanigans)
I feel pretty content about it, we learned a ton and I really think we’ll be able to improve quite a lot next year :3

your phone screen is probably using a polarizing filter internally so it’s emitting light polarized one way, if that polarization doesn’t align with the polarization filter in the sunglasses it will block it
the color shift is a more complicated thing where the polarization being rotated depends on wavelength
LCD screens always have a polarizing filter because that’s how they work, you have two polarizing filters perpendicular which by itself blocks all light, then you put the liquid crystal in the middle that rotates the polarization of the light, but only when the liquid crystals are oriented specific ways
use electrodes to control the orientation of the liquid crystals to switch between one that rotates the polarization and one that doesn’t, add a backlight, and yay an LCD

I absolutely think there should be a shuttle that goes to all the different places especially useful for disabled entities, I just think there should be some like city-run transit line that stops near here
unfortunately this was not exactly a shuttle usable for all disabled entities— there no kind of ramp or even space for a wheelchair it was just a regular old van, ofc that doesn’t mean it’s not helpful for some people but what I think they should have is a shuttle thing that’s actually accessible and a regular (also accessible) transit line
the current implementation isn’t either of those
