One thing I have to rant about: Folks need to stop dismissing concerns using the term “moral panic”. It’s bad faith and ineffective. This is about as effective as “Trump Derangement Syndrome” / “you said the same things about George W Bush” like no, I literally didn’t. It’s like dismissing climate concerns because people 100 years said streets would fill with horse manure.

This is one of the better write ups of the future Bitcoin security model by @npub1a2c…w83a . The takeaway seems to be that it’s certainly not a guarantee that Bitcoin will collapse in 40 years; there are many scenarios in which a fee market could develop which provides the necessary security. However this is hardly anything like the reassurance one would need to say, sell Bitcoin as a surefire way to pay off the national debt. Bitcoin might not even be around. Of course it might, but that’s not enough to build a national reserve on.

This would make bitcoin more useful to many people but not valuable to Harold who just wants to hodl IBIT. It becomes less interesting to the financial institutions who would prefer to keep themselves as the intermediaries. Privacy and scalability also open bitcoin up to political attack by Elizabeth Warren etc, something that could hold price down. There is a relationship between privacy/ scalability and institutional interest, and I don’t think it’s clear at all that it’s a positive correlation.

The people you are describing are real and there's lots of them. I've spent a lot of time getting blocked on Bluesky (and getting called Nazi, transphobe, etc) for telling these folks to take it down a notch, precisely because of what has happened, people voted against the morons on the left without even considering who they're handing power over to. . So I'm not going to argue with you there. But I have no idea what you're talking about when you say these people have permeated the establishment in any sort of material way. The left worked Kamala for 4 months just to say the word "fascist" out loud.
