Bitcoin scaling seems to have a huge complexity problem. Lightning barely works today, and cannot perform the necessary transaction throughput for the whole population. Seems like the only solutions being discussed like fedi, liquid, are custodial. I want Bitcoin to be permissionless and non custodial for everyone. I know it can be done. I'm just not sure what solutions exist today, if any. Most likely it's a solution that hasn't been thought of yet.

While I don't support Binance or CZ, the recent news along with Kraken and ETF news got me feeling a kind of way. What is Bitcoins future?
- only highly regulated KYC'ed exchanges exist. All alternatives are squashed. Peer-to-peer trading outlawed
- ETF's play huge role in market
- public miners forced to censor OFAC sanctioned countries.
- all fiat gains incur major tax, because "you got lucky"
- self custody outlawed
- all transactions are taxable events, Bitcoins medium of exchange potential never takes off

I use a PWA for my bank. All I need to do on mobile is check my balance. For gps I am using google maps.😬 I've installed it through aurora store using an anonymous account, never sign into Google maps, and disable GPS when I don't need it. I'm sure there are some other options, I just haven't gotten to it yet.

I've been following Michael's work. He's influenced my understanding of digital security a lot. You will have to give up _minor_ conviniences, but to me the enhanced security and privacy is well worth it. Side of Burritos is also a good YouTube for graphene OS stuff. GrapheneOS is not as scary or inconvenient as you might assume it is! It's basically just Android, but more secure and private... Overwhelming majority of apps function perfectly and if they don't you can use a progressive web app to access them via a web browser. The minor sacrifices in convenience are well worth the leaps and bounds gained in security and privacy. If you're interested, I would encourage you to look into it. If you like your money open source, why not your phone too? After all, it is the most personal connection you have to the internet, pay attention to what you're sending out... It's your permanent record.

I switched from an iPhone 11 to a brand new pixel 7 and installed Graphene OS three weeks ago. The experience has been amazing. I don't see myself ever going back, even if iPhone's UX is superior to androids at times IMO. I am recieving MUCH more privacy and security improvements than I am minor inconveniences like non functional apps. Only apps that don't work ATM are cash app and my bank app. Strike works and I use my bank via a PWA. Its Android, just better... a few things might not be as convenient or streamlined, but I'm willing to sacrifice those for improved security and privacy. And with is being open source software, it's only going to improve.

GM. On Android you can download all your regular apps through the Aurora store anonymously. So you can use the apps you want, without having a Google account linked to you. Google play and the Aurora store are both just the front end for the Android app database.
1. Download f-droid https://f-droid.org/
2. Download Aurora store from f-droid
3. Sign in as anonymous
4. Download any Android app. Google maps, proton mail etc.

People that say “nobody is using bitcoin” as a reason for why they’re building on other chains are missing the forest for the trees.
The only reason IMO these other chains have more users is because they’re just digital casinos. Of course more people are going to throw in $300 to doge to try and get rich than go down the bitcoin rabbit hole and study economics and cryptography.
Over time, people are going to wake up. Individuals and companies that resisted the pull to easy money and stayed focused on #bitcoin will be positioned to reap the rewards once people start to actually understand what’s going on here.
