Yesterday I discovered the fan-made game Mortal Kombat II Remix. :mk:
It’s Mortal Kombat II with improved graphics, all the stages from MK1, the run/ combo mechanics from MK3, and much more.
It’s a game made in Mugen and it is quite a polished project! This looks 100x better than any MK game that released in the last 2 decades.

I barely have time to play anything let alone stream for 1/4 of a day.

My friend owned RE2 on the PS1. I owned it on the N64. To be honest I actually prefer the N64 version. I liked the Rumble Pak support, and the in-game graphics looked cleaner on N64. Additionally the entire game fit on one cartridge instead of being split into two discs. The tradeoff of course was the N64 had worse quality audio and cutscenes. Still, I loved it. :n64:

Ok the person I purchased this from didn’t know the specs. I purchased it for $80 and booted up Linux Mint from a USB thumb drive. Here, I was able to confirm the specs.
The computer currently doesn’t have an internal drive.
It’s a 2010 model Mac Pro
CPU: Quad core Intel Xenon 3.2 GHz
GPU: Radeon HD 5770 1 GB
RAM: 32 GB DDR3
This is perfect! All it needs now is a decent internal drive and maybe a newer Radeon card thrown in and I’m set! :pixelfire:

1. Lossless Scaling only works on Windows 11. It generates frames to make 30 fps games run at 60 fps.
2. Killer Instinct (Windows version) is tied to my Xbox gamertag. That includes my win/ loss record. Also more people play the Windows/ Xbox version online than the Steam version.
3. Gears 5 is another more modern game I like to play online. Again, I already own this one for Windows and my progress is linked to my Xbox Gamertag.

Mastodon version 4.6 by default shows new/ logged out users the theme of the site that matches your system: light or dark.
This is perfectly fine for most Mastodon servers, but light mode made the Retro Gaiden site virtually unreadable with dark text against a dark background.
I’ve adjusted the custom CSS of the site so that light and dark modes look identical.
This change explains why a couple of RG users couldn’t see the text after the 4.6 update. :mastodon: :rg5:

I just got finished watching Project Hail Mary. It’s a very entertaining sci-fi movie that stars Ryan Gosling, who also produced the film.
This movie has it all: intriguing plot, humor, action, drama, and surprises.
It’s not super scientifically accurate but I’ll give that a pass since the movie is so good otherwise. I’d rate it a solid 9 out of 10. Highly recommended!

@nprofile…g0sh well I for one am glad that RFK is bringing attention to the fact that as a country, we’re very underprepared for the significant amount of severely autistic people who will enter adulthood. When he was mentioning autistic people, he was obviously not talking about people who can talk, care for themselves and use computers. You can be on the autism spectrum, but it’s nowhere near as bad as many other people out there have it. You’re a functioning adult.

Our son is 16 years old and has caused significant damage to our home, specifically the drywall, interior doors, kitchen appliances & a window.

I love on-rails light gun games, and Gunblade N.Y. is no exception. It was developed by SEGA’s legendary AM2 department and started showing up in arcades in 1995.
It’s got the simple yet fun gameplay SEGA was known for and it was a blast (literally) to mow down enemies on the street using an overpowered gun from a helicopter.
The game and its sequel finally got a home console port on the Wii over a decade later.

Remember how the Xbox One was considered a commercial disappointment because of the fact that it sold less than half the amount of PS4 consoles? It also sold about 40% less consoles than the previous generation’s Xbox 360.
Fast forward to 2026. The Xbox Series’ console has sold about 30% less than Xbox One.
Now rumors are circulating that the next generation of consoles could cost over $1k.

Hard Corps: Uprising is a 2011 game that came out on Xbox 360 and PS3. It’s a Contra-like game developed by ARC Systems, the developer of the Guilty Gear series. It’s published by Konami.
This is a really fun game that captures the essence of classic Contra while adding new mechanics like dashing and double jumping. The 2D hand drawn sprites look amazing as well against the 3D polygonal background.
Grab a friend and conquer the enemy together (or get rekt together).

I’ve kept a list of all the TVs I’ve had over the last several years as my main gaming display and all their issues:
Samsung HP-S4253 - flickering blue pixels
Sharp LC-40E67UN - heavy distortion
Hitachi 42HDS69 - input lag
Sony Wega KDF-E50A10 - projection bulbs have inconsistent lifespan
Panasonic TC-P42C2 - vertical line (currently in use)
Sylvania LC370SS8 - input lag
In all my years of gaming on various displays, my experience is that Samsung ALWAYS sucks. Panasonic always rules.

The Sylvania LCD TV I picked up a couple of days ago may not be as great as I thought. The image quality is fine but it has ~100ms response time and it makes playing certain games just feel… off. Check out this slow motion video I recorded.

@nprofile…f8nn ha! Those are the exact ports on this Sylvania: 1 VGA, 2 HDMI, 2 component, 2 S-video/ composite. It has a couple of audio output options too. Very nice.
And yeah, the Panasonic plasmas are still amazing. I own two more of them 😄
I have a 50” Panasonic in the living room from 2008 and another 42” one in the master bedroom from 2010. Both are perfect, and still look better than most new TVs. I’m a huge fan of plasmas, specifically Panasonic and Pioneer models.

I picked up a free TV today to replace my other one. As you may know, my 42” Panasonic plasma developed a vertical green line on the screen. RIP.
The new TV is a 37” Sylvania LCD from 2007. While it’s a slightly smaller screen and has a lower contrast ratio, it’s surprisingly good quality from a company mainly known for making light bulbs. It also has even more input and output options than the Panasonic despite being 3 years older.
Both sets have a 720p native resolution.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012) is one of the dumbest movies ever made. The plot is filled with complete nonsense and uninteresting characters.

For my next livestream, I’m going to play Contra III: The Alien Wars on SNES. I’m going to beat the game on hard difficulty without using continues. This is the only way to fight the true last boss and get the true ending.

@nprofile…lssg “Unlisted” as it shows in that app still makes your posts public but they won’t appear in the local timeline. As far as the other thing you mentioned, it’s been the number 2 rule for about a year and a half 😄

@nprofile…lssg the “unlisted” option would be the equivalent to the “quiet public” status on the web interface. This makes your post visible to your followers, on your profile page and to anyone who sees it reposted. It just doesn’t show up in the local timeline.

@nprofile…lssg the no politics rule really only applies to the local timeline. You can totally post political stuff from RG but for the sake of the local timeline, setting it to “quiet public” status is encouraged.

US Politicians have had two and a half centuries to make this country amazing. I figured if they were going to do it, they would have done so by now. That’s why I’m not wasting another moment of my life voting or obsessing over national politics. I just can’t be bothered by it anymore.

The Church Arcade is a new arcade that opened earlier this year in Duquesne, PA and it looks amazing. :guilded_eyes:
It’s a former Catholic church built in 1890 but has recently been repurposed as a retro gaming and pinball establishment. You pay a fee at the door and all machines are on free play.
The interior looks mighty impressive and dramatic! I really want to check out this place in person one day.

Many HD DVDs were “combo” discs, meaning one side was the HD version and the other side of the same disc was the DVD version. This gave people the opportunity to pay for the movie once and play it on a number of different devices.
It’s a shame blu-ray overtook HD DVD as the dominant HD physical format. I always thought HD DVD was better overall.

My daughter stubbed her toe so badly on her bed frame that it actually fractured her toe.
She must have an insanely high pain tolerance because she didn’t scream and/ or cry like I would’ve :guilded_lul:

I flashed the SD card with the previous version and everything works perfectly again.
RasPlex will now stay on the current version for all eternity.

RasPlex notified me that a new update was available. I went to install the update and now the Pi won’t boot.

RasPlex turns your Raspberry Pi into a Plex client, and it works really well!
The only problems I have with it are:
1. No controller support.
2. No live TV viewing options.
At least it streams my local movies, shows and music no problem. :guilded_thumbsup:

Geist for Gamecube is a pretty interesting FPS game with unique mechanics.
Back in the day, my friends and family would get together to play 4 player multiplayer matches. It was cool possessing various NPCs and even ceiling-mounted turrets to take out the other players.
After a few nights of playing this, we went back to playing Halo 2 and continued running each other over with Warthogs and Ghosts in Blood Gulch :guilded_shrug:
