Finished the #cdrama #TheLongestPromise and enjoyed it, mostly. The beginning was a bit trope-y, but then it got interesting and went places I didn't expect.
MDL says 40 episodes but Netflix had 43. Is it because they kinda threw everything in for those last few? 😁 Lots of *jazz hands* MAGIC going on.
I had 2ML syndrome AGAIN so now I need a show with Alen Fang as the 1ML.
Is there supposed to be a second season to address what happens in 70 years?

A bucolic kind of story. I especially appreciated the historical and scientific climate environment this was based on: 1816 after a volcano erupted in Fiji and caused the entire rest of the world to have no summer. And the impact of war on people: the participants, the families they left behind, the communities they left, and the families and communities they returned to.
No bodices were ripped in this one, but corsets were unlaced. 😏

The benefits of watching Asian dramas is that I have an entire internet of friends and MDL to tell me what is good or not.
Not so with random ebooks from the library. 😅 (sure, there is GoodReads and whatnot, but that is too much work)
Anyway, as a romance novel from 2009 (?!), this was entertaining enough, as long as I ignored the fat-shaming and the exoticising of Romani people. 😬
Like a hotdog at a ball game, it was sufficient.
All that to say, I wouldn't turn down reading another.

My e-reader is frozen and has such a long battery life, I have to wait days for it to actually die. 😅
So I borrowed an ebook from my library for the first time and read on my phone.
I've seen the two seasons of the #kdrama #Pachinko so far, so decided to read the book, too. The story differs a bit, but respectfully.

I do not recommend reading the chapters about the carnivorous insects and spiders before bed. 😨 It felt almost like the 3rd Lord of the Rings book, where the travelers from many different walks of life join up for an incredible challenge, and then return home, changed, yet not. And still life long friends.

Kiddo is nearing teenage years so fast and I am eager to see the maturing adult he will become.
But I'm also SAD about how he won't be a kid much longer.
This feels like the infant-to-preschooler crisis all over again. Being a parent to an infant is different from being a parent to a preschooler. Now a parent to a kid vs a parent to a teenager.

By the same author that got me back to reading - and was why I bought this e-reader in the first place. Mu Su Li has great characters. Grumpy, annoying, self-centered, self-effacing, smart, dull... And great heart.
The dragon in this book is so impatient and indignant at his sudden downgrade to barely human. He is funny to listen to as he gripes.

It helps to know which actor she based the male lead on, because then I can picture his face and mannerisms. 🤭
I just wish we had a little bit of HIS narrative, especially when they first meet at the airport. 😊

I need a knowledgeable person to explain to me what the challenges are for installing solar panels on the vertical side of my house instead of the roof.
I understand the structure and angle of using an existing roof as the basis for solar panel installation is easiest. But, the south side of our home cooks in the sun all year round and is not shaded, so it would be the better choice, sun exposure wise, for us.
What structural considerations/additions do we need to know?

The fourth and final of the series by #RoriThornton that had me genuinely smiling at the end. The world Rori created is so full of warmth and acceptance and love. The dichotomy of the countries of Rabahn and Vauge highlights how restrictive patriarchy and even monotheism can be.
Rori doesn't shy away from truly dark, toxic relationship dynamics, but instead makes them seem smaller and overcome-able when surrounded by this supportive extended family.

It has K.O. from #LoveO2O as the ML! And their industry is satnav! 🤓 Bonus winding mountain switchback roads and pretty Xi'an cityscapes.
K.O. was gay in Love O2O but not gay in this one. There is a different gay man in this one - a coworker.
(I thought the K.O. storyline was sweet, honestly.)

They are almost going to have 6 spouses in their marriage by the end of the next book, I think! 😁 I especially appreciated it for it's representation of #aro folks.

Another #ace e-book. I wanted to include the author's description of it, as it really does describe it. Humans and 9 foot tall, 6 limbed dog people live in the same world, but different countries. There are so many neo pronouns and poly relationships and trans folks and class hierarchy and martial arts and duels. The social visits and conversations were very Pride & Prejudice, but there are back stories you follow hints to discover.

I've been using my new Pilot Prera #FountainPen I bought in Seoul and like it a lot so far, as I figure out how to fill the barrel.
With the piston/plunger design, at first I could only fill the barrel up 30% with ink, as the rest seemed to be air. I made a little bit of a mess as I tried different ways to get just the air out. Now I can fill it up about 75% with ink, which is progress!

This weekend, I cleaned my fountain pen for the first time. I finally used up all of the tiny 3ml ink bottles I purchased with it.
This morning meant New Ink Day!

Ok, I have thoughtfully added one (1) fountain pen to my collection, so I now have only two (2) at this time.
In my defense, this one is beautiful rainbow anodized metal on the outside :sparkles_pride:
It is so pretty and tiny. You screw the cap onto the back of the body of the pen in order for it to be long enough to fit in your hand.

Omg I figured out how to get YouTube previews to work for me!
I saw that @npub1rrd…jp2s posted a link and I could see the preview, so I had to test again.
These two posts LOOK like they have the same link, but I added "www" ahead of "youtube.com" and THAT one shows a preview now!

This handsomest prancing boy is SIX years old today. 😍
He loves apples and chasing chipmunks and hunting bunnies and walkies. He can be a grumpy old man dog who doesn't like to share. He won't eat if he doesn't want to and he prefers to poop in other people's yards. He knows when people call him handsome.
His breed is a Jindo mix and he actually flew from South Korea to Chicago when he was 4 months old as a rescue. He had meningitis as a puppy, so his balance isn't quite right.
I love him.
