There is only ONE EXCEPTION:
When banks buy stuff, they create money and use it to pay the seller - that is THE ONLY WAY how banks can pay under fiat money 🙂

just to make it clear:
different currency types are better/worse money based on inherent properties/rules that govern them.
BUT in fiat money, positive balance denominated in (e.g. USD, EUR, GDP, YEN, ...), are NOT created via buying/selling of goods or services, but by banks when others take out loans.
Loans mint new money.
debit: The money is the banks debt.
credit: The debtor ows the bank equally
They cancel each other out.
Paying back loans burn money.

Many things have been used as money throughout history, but today, the only money that matters is fiat currencies (the money created by (central) banks and/or governmemts) and maybe some alternative forms like bitcoin, crypto and so on - who all have different rules and properties governing them.
Fiat money is debt created by banks, not other market participants. Normal market participants cant create fiat money.

Okay, lets get definitions clear please:
1. Money is denominated in a currency (e.g. USD, cigarettes, etc.. anything ppl accept as means of payment & price goods in)
2. sellers price stuff & buyers become debtors who owe sellers the price
3. debtor normally settles by paying price in money
4. Buyers need a positive transferable balance in a currency to be able to use it as money to pay debt

money is different from barter, but also from credit.
an act of bidirectional exchange is barter and comes with its own problems.
an exchanfe where just one side provides is a donation or a credit/loan
That is different too. a credit/loan has to be settled later on.
you use either goods (as in barter) or money to settle it.
So paying money is used to SETTLE debt 🙂

I dont know what the "essence" of goldbuggery is for you, but gold and bitcoin have little to nothing in common, despite maybe "goldbugs" or some people claiming otherwise.
gold and bitcoin share no properties.

yes they can.
bitcoin is just a social contrqct you can opt into buy using it.
it allows anyone to sell for bitcoin and have a guarantee from all others in the network they will sell to you for bitcoin.
if you dont have bitcoin you should start out by earning some first, but ...it doesnt prevent you by buying from somebody who trusts you to pay back later - thats always possible .... can even be a group, but its a individuals/group based special agreement

this seems wrong on so many levels.
1. bitcoin lightning is instant, not slow, so pizza is paid, no worries
2. among blockchains its relatively small and downloads faster than others
3. volatility exists, but value grows, all others dont
4. bitcoin certificates are fiat. dont do it. use lightning in self custody instead, that works
5. you cant sign numbers and share them ppl could "double spend" (copy the signed number)

I think this is just absolutely idiotic or even borderline evil.
If there is fixed monetary supply in an economy then price changes will give real feedback to people. Price changes will tell people whether the economy grows or shrinks or stays the same.
If ppl start hoarding, then prices will deflate, good for everyone, if ppl stop hoarding prices will inflate temporarily until nobody hoards and the maximum is in circulation.

1. bitcoin is not backed by something and "proof of work" is just a mechanism to defend the network against attackers trying to rob everyone
2. money is never scarce. the wording is misleading - i agree. only goods and services can be scarce. a limited money supply does not make it scarce, it just standardizes is - is 1lg or 1m as a standard measurement unit scarce? ...would you want constant change in what 1m or 1kg means?

imho that has been tried by a project called "Ripple" and it didnt scale so that turned into XRP.
The best or closest system to that today is imho bitcoin lightning and its amazing.
Maybe theres a way to scale the original idea, but it requires imho open supply chain and a massive amount of people keen to try hard to work with this and even then its unclear. if it works we can still switch to it, but bitcoin lightning with open supply chains could get us there

the latest signed root verifies all data of the log, because after appending, the new signed merkle root still includes the entire older merkle tree too.

you can delete branches from the tree and then nobody can get that data anymore. if you just evict it from your cache, you can re-download it from the p2p network given somebody still seeds the data.
you can also build applications where you rewrite history (feed.truncate()) ...that will increase the hypercores `.fork` counter and its detectable. use cases are when you use `autobase` to have multi writer hypercores

you start with a hypercore's public key as its address to lookup peers and sync some log entries torrent style. you also sync a handful of "tree nodes" (=merkle proof) with a merkle root signature to verify data integrity using the pubkey you started with.
verifying means you can sync data from any random peer bittorrent style, but you know the data is exacty what the author published and wasnt accidently or maliciously changed.

..it all just has to become a movement and it needs to get applied to form alternative systems. thats it.

how about open source modular supply chains/networks with open communication.
instead of one hierarchical hospital, its all modular and organized just in time and on demand, where its transparent for anyone to observe and discuss, but not make decisions.
if things go bad somewhere, the functioning parts of the supply network can just each freely choose to collaborate with an alternative "module" instead.

elites like to divide into left and right and while i despise reactionary culture and personally embrace the values of the left, its mostly authoritarians vs anti authoritarians who believe in civil liberties and full equality.
The divide in todays world is mostly between authoritarians and anti authoritarians and not left vs right.
the western governments, the big tech, the CPC, you name it... its all authoritarian and we the people should work to make them obsolete 🤷‍♀️

yes, and i have repeatedly answered that means of production are a net cost if you dont use them, so its a money sink and if you run out of money you go bust and lose it.
So to keep the means of production, you have to generate enough revenue and that isnt easy long term, unless you have a money printer, but you ignore this

even if you cant pay. bitcoin is used worldwide, so it keeps its value and grows too, because its unprintable. countries have made it illegal in the past and it didnt change anything.
if you temporarily cant use bitcoin to pay, you can still use it as store of value and you can use a VPN to create accounts on foreign bitciin exchanges and sell bitcoin and transfer income back to your account in fiat... or use a credit card that you can "top up" via bitcoin and pay in fiat when needed

nobody can shut down bitcoin.
you can make it illegal, but thats just as true for pirating/torrenting and it has never stopped people from using it.
its fundamentally different than bank accounts which can be switched off/frozen in an instant, but bitcoin cannot.
you can make it illegal, but ppl can migrate or use VPNs and all sorts of firewall circumventing tooling and it will never be illegal in all 200 countries on the planet.

If you have a connected flight over china and have to stay over night because you miss the followup flight in china, you are cut off from the rest of the world. ...and without checking "gmails" you cant even easily book a new ticket.

Its not gold and silver under feudalism.
gold and silver coinage is still only harvested and controlled by the few and can be stolen and storing or transporting it is highly vulnerable to thugs robbing it away.
Just like today gold or silver are useless - at most you can own inflatable rights to physical gold or silver and transferring is inherently slow thus it just doesnt serve any purpose.
bitcoin is different. its open source and has a transparent ledger

I'm not a fan of the dalai lama either.
That's just another elite, just like your linked article expresses.
This is all just about different kinds of elites duking it out amongst themselves, each with their own stories. It all has nothing to do with the people, who end up living under the winning elite and the rules, some better than others, but always all still wealthy elites vs. the rest of the people.

Its easy to have mad growth rates when you start from little. japan and germany both had extraordinary growth rates back then.
also, if you grow because the whole world orders from you so you become some sort of export world champion, that makes it much easier.
the point is - sucess or not - even a wise king can lift a country and its peoppe from striving to thriving ... but it still means its brittle. the throne successor can fuck it up, and even if there are alternative ideas...
