I first bumped into @nprofile…kmsy at TABConf2024 @nprofile…4q0e when I volunteered to help out at the event. He wasn't there. Or if he was, we wasnt introduced. The posters and banner artwork immediately caught my attention. Comic books are always something I've enjoyed, fat as far back as I can remember. And it's almost always the visuals that gets me. I've been away from comics for a while but walking into that room brought it all back to me. It's also not just the style I love about NG, it's the subject matter too. My dad bought a ZX Spectrum 16k machine in the early 80's. You needed to plug in a tube TV and tape deck (software was a cassette tape back then). Growing up with computers, watching them evolve (along side myself) but struggling to get other people to share my fascination was just how it was. My best friend could even switch it on. Building PC's from ordered parts, adding in sound cards and video cards, watching Commodore and Amiga do amazing things that pc's couldn't do (back then), has been a huge part of my childhood and teenage memories. In my adult years it was setting up a raspberry pi to my my first bitcoin node, and btcpayserver, and all the wallet & nostr stuff. No Good brings all that wonder back into one book. (The stickers are a wicked bonus too). Thanks man, the wait was worth it.

This is a humble request for banking executives (the C-Suite types), to try and use their own services as a normal client would have to use them.
Just give your support number a call and see what you have to deal with. I have just completed a security check, after two days of trying to reach the right department, only to be told I have failed the security questions. I have never heard of most the accounts, companies, credit cards, etc they asked me about, but I failed the test.
I guess some database was bought, probably on the cheap, with BS data and that is viewed as more reliable than me on phone, logged into both my online banking site, and mobile phone app, while on the phone with the banking consultant, answering their questions.
This is not a dig at any one bank. I have accounts with all the colours - take your pick.
Please don't tell me it's for my own protection. It's for YOUR protection.
If your security systems worked, then the much-touted increase in fraudulent transactions and activity would not be possible, and you would not have to keep tightening the screws.

While your savings are increasing in purchasing power due to fiat inflation, more and more businesses will start to accept bitcoin as payment.
The change will be a transition, not a step.

Opt out is not easy when you are a salary earner and the tax is deducted by your employer, and you pay sales tax on every purchase. Companies that opt out better have btc payments set up with all their suppliers and customers, for when their bank accounts are frozen. The easiest way for the state to control the population is though institutions like banks, listed companies, etc. It's a much smaller population that in turn touches everyone.

Great article. The question is how do governments go back to sound money? Game theory prevents this as a realistic likelihood - sound money places spending limits on governments. If you're the only one, you will get left behind as your neighbors out spend you. True, over a long time frame your citizens will be much better off, but you will probably be voted out before seeing real change. It's political chaos.
This is why bitcoin is the only possible option. And it's through discovery by everyone people, saving and USING it for everyday purchases. When individuals and businesses start preferring to be paid in bitcoin and offer discounts for such, this will be the driving force for governments to adopt it as legal tender. It's the sly and round about way.
That's the day we celebrate.

More people need to check out @nprofile…yauf. When my family and I were in the US for a couple of years, I could not believe the cost of health insurance. For $28k you could fly to South Africa and have world class surgery in a private hospital and have a holiday here too while you recover.

Protesters, waving Palestinian flags, have disrupted multiple stages at @lavuelta, including today's final stage in Madrid. I'm not anti-protesting, but your rights to protest do not supersede the rights of others. This is the biggest race of the year for many teams. Its a chance to prove their worth to their sponsors and secure funding for the next season. This pays salaries of the many people employed by each team. Furthermore, there are performance bonuses that riders can earn. Riders themselves are also looking to impress teams to secure their futures, and that of their families.
I'm fairly sure that if I walked into any one of those protesters offices on Monday morning, and kicked their desks over and threw their laptops put of the windows, they may feel differently about protesting.
For people to feel entitled to stop riders and teams from earning their living, to make a statement about unrelated events is shocking. Those people need to be arrested and punished / fined.

I swear, it's easier to run a lightning node on a Raspi Pi, than it is to use Linex. Linex has been around for 33 years and just installing an app is a hassle. As a freedom tech, non-dev, enthusiast I'm really trying here. But having to copy and paste lines of code to get a basic app to work?!

I'm struggling to understand how auto-correct works. I thought these things were supposed to learn your messaging style and get better with time. No matter how many times I type 'Ill' it does not correct it to I'll. I always have to go back and manually change it. The same for 'I'm', Im is not even a word. I also get numbers added into my words - I know that's my fault, but why the phone thinks that a word and just accepts it is beyond me. The one time I do type an unusual word - Name of a company or product that has unusual spelling - autocorrect will insist on changing it so something else. And sometimes I get whole sentences that make absolutely no sense. It's like a total fail, on both side of the scale.

The Utility of Bitcoin
I speak to many business owners about how bitcoin could be useful in their businesses. A common response is ‘but, what’s the utility value of bitcoin? What makes it valuable? I can’t see it or touch it.’
I enjoy this question because it means the person asking is trying to think of bitcoin as money, which is exactly what it is. But because the money everyone is used to working with has a physical aspect in the cash of cash, paper notes or coins, or gold & silver which has commercial applications too, this can make it hard to apply the same thinking to bitcoin.
The answer to the question about utility value to is understand what bitcoin does:
Bitcoin is a protocol that has a higher network uptime than any financial institution, bank, reverse bank, trading desk, etc.
Bitcoin is issued every 10 minutes together with the new block of transactions added to the blockchain.
Transaction blocks (the blockchain) cannot be altered.
The full issuance schedule of bitcoin is already known from now until the last bitcoin is issued in over 100 years from now.
Bitcoin is open source, and can be verified by anyone.
Bitcoin can also be used by anyone, anywhere in the world, and at any time of the day.
So, what am I saying here? Bitcoin is certainty. And who values certainty? Well, EVERBODY.
The international businesses want to know they can invest in a foreign country at a large scale without having laws change, policy changes, wars, regime changes, etc that could affect their investments.
Countries want to know that their trading partners can be relied upon to honour trade agreements.
Financial sectors want stability. They want to know that no sudden changes to laws and regulations can be expected.
Local businesses want to know that the tax laws and labour laws won’t change overnight, and that the price they paid for materials last month is the same price they can expect to pay this month.
Citizens want to know the price of fuel won’t double overnight, or the price of food. Or that their savings and investments won’t be nationalised.
Financial markets price in certainty. See how quickly stock exchange indexes adjust to even a rumour or hint of uncertainty – think tariffs for a recent example.
So that is the utility value of bitcoin. Absolute certainty, all the time.
It’s like building your house on the proverbial rock, as opposed to building on the shifting sands.
Name one other thing that we depend upon to make our living and raise our families that that can give you that level of certainty.
In a world that we know is changing, and more rapidly all the time, for the first time in human history we have certainty.
Absolute certainty, forever.
