So I'm spending a couple hours walking every day now. I need it. Anyways, I feel like I've made a discovery or something... Today I finally saw the culprit - there's little fish, about the size of my palm, sunbathing in the shallowest part. Who ever heard of fish sunbathing? I wish, but I don't think so. I think everything we call a flaw in it is actually a strength. It is stronger by having masses of stupid brainwashed people, and its stronger by having those people dependent on the state. Defying the natural laws of economics actually strengthens it because all the ruined lives and livelihoods can only go begging to the state, or jump through whatever hoops it contrives to secure an advantaged position. States are only made stronger by being worse.

2nd day of class, in my retarded quest to learn biology... I'm hating this. Looking back, those intense summer classes were heavenly. I basically had the campus to myself. Now the Stpuid is so thick you could cut it with a knife. And summer classes move at a pace I can handle - this shit now is so slow... Like, my bio 2 professor is actually going to spend 6 class periods **_on one chapter!!_** In summer class, you get half of one class per chapter. Skim it, or skip it, but its on you, and thank god for that because you can just relax and focus. This spoon-dribbling crap puts me on edge. I have to spend **_3 weeks_** on one fucking chapter!?!? And then there's the bus. I can't drive. Stroke... need a neurologist to clear me to drive again, and I don't think that's happening soon. I am literally spending more time just waiting for the bus to show up (its a university city bus, not the yellow big bird buses of our younger imprisonment) than I am taking the classes. I've travelled - I've used buses in various countries. Never. Nevvvvvvvver have I seen a worse managed bus system. Pick your third world shit hole, and I guarantee its better than this.

I've been having this allergic reaction, itchy all over, and I had the brilliant idea of taking a bath... I used this very nice oatmeal soap... Man did I kick an anthill by doing that. There's this other little problem of having had a stroke, and lost feeling on my left side. Well, not all feeling - towards the end of the day, like now, my left side gets ice cold. Well, that thing with the cold combined with the bath - it was glorious at first, the hot water feeding warmth back into my left side, but then I got really weak and I suddenly just knew I had to get out of that bath, and then dizziness, and I've basically just been laying here while falling through space for an hour. I don't think I'll be repeating this experiment anytime soon.

Thats definitely having an effect - all that stuff can change which genes are on or off, and about a hundred genes don't reset in meiosis, so you get epigenetic change over generations. But other things, like the malfunctioning enzyme that is supposed to cut up HIV DNA in the cells, are probably messed up because of a mutation that wasn't erased by natural selection. That's probably just pure bad luck, and such mutations almost always are erased, but over enough time even very unlikely things become likely. And backing up a bit, I really do mean malfunctioning - we are made of fantastically complicated tiny machines, which are enzymes and proteins. Some of these things are as complicated as any man made machine, and each one had to be either designed or evolve. IMO a lot of our machinery was intentionally designed by our ancestors. And we're at the point now where we're beginning to design enzymes and at least have a conceptual path to designing chromosomes. CRISPR, for example, is a combination of two different restriction enzymes we found in nature. We just combined them. And its really amazing that it worked, I think on the first try iirc.

I want to preserve it by redesigning the parts that we've lost. We used to be much stronger and longer lived, but we've devolved. One part I recently found (I've begun a degree in bio, been researching a lot) is the enzyme that we still have but is kinda defunct that made our ancestors immune to HIV. This enzyme is still functional in some monkeys (rhesus, iirc). Basically its a restriction enzyme, but I'm not sure we call them that if they're in mammals. There's lots of other examples like this - things that used to work but don't anymore. Some are enzymes, like that or the one that clears plaque from arteries, some are DNA segments, like missing introns that change the proteins we make. We're not evolving - we're devolving, and its provable. Either we figure out how to control our evolution and fix ourselves, or we go extinct.

🤔 "entropy"
🤔🤔🤔 idea... A ratio to determine whether you have enough entropy for your pain tolerance.
So here's my first draft at such a ratio. Adjust or rejig as needed.
Entropy Ratio = seed entropy / (pain threshold * btc amount)
If the ratio is >1, you're good. If <1, you're pwned and haven't found out yet.
I assume seeds can have a range of entropy between 128 and 512 (if this isn't right, you can adjust - I'm not bothering with perfection for this). Also assumed is that pain thresholds are different for everyone.
Imagine 4 pain thresholds. These are arbitrary.
"Not too painful to lose" -- 128 bits
"Painful" -- 256 bits
"Very painful" -- 384 bits
"Might die" -- 512 bits
^ according to the pain you would feel if you lost the amount secured by that seed.
##Example :## Jane has 2 btc in a 12 word seed with no passphrase, so 128 bits. If she lost it, she'd lose everything, so that's maximum pain threshold. 128/(512*2) = .125, so she needs to either send it all to a seed with over 1024 bits of entropy (is this even possible?) or split her stack among enough seeds that the loss of any one of them doesn't hurt too much.
One solution : She might split her stack in four equal parts and have each new seed be 12 words, so then each stack is 128/(.5*128)=2, so then she's good. {assuming her pain thresholds scale linearly - if 2 == "might die," then .5 == "not too painful"}
Another solution : she could split it in 2, and have each stack secured by a 24 word seed with a passphrase. (256+passphrase entropy)/(1*384), then solve for the required minimum entropy for the passphrase, and that passphrase has to have more than 128 bits of entropy. 128 bits of genuine randomness is 20 characters of random characters, meaning not a word she thinks up. That setup could also work for her, for her subjective pain threshold.
This is just a way to evaluate what you've set up. Prospectively, and with fluctuating prices, its probably hard to plan sufficient entropy for your comfort level. Also, although I set 128 bits as minimum, 128 bits IS secure - that ain't getting cracked in your lifetime, as long as it actually is random - that's the catch, true randomness. But if you feel better with more universes of math between you and bad guys, this framework might help you assess whether an upgrade is in order.

The attacker could take some out of the bag and have less entropy to attack, knowing certain words aren't there, or replace some with slightly heavier pieces so they sink more when mixed. Still considering it. So far I've been lucky to have people willing to help, but I can't keep expecting that. For the next year or two, a bus should be fine. My main transport need to getting to class, and using the bus over the summer was unreasonable because its such a time sink and cramming a class into 4 weeks over summer means every minute counts. But the regular semester is much more forgiving.

Carbon likes to form chains. Remember its under very high pressure. Whether it forms chains or crystals depends on what else is there, and elements should separate out to some extent under heat and being liquid.
