The city has been threatening to put a mosquito pond in my side yard for years and finally decided this was the one. First they cut down a bunch of 70 year old trees. I thought I was going to lose my access to my backyard/putting my trash out... But they kept it! And I could back a truck in to drop things off!
And then they planted a tree right in the middle of my access space. It's getting cut down as soon as they pull off this.

They closed local Amazon drop off locations when I am and the site shunted me off to UPS. I went to the store I got kicked out of after masking was lifted in my state for daring not to wear one, GASP. This was in 2021. I bounced out of the store and saw a man physically fighting with a little person (woman) in a weird bondage get up, no joke.

My older daughter, who left home abruptly about ten years ago to live with her dad, called Rube Jr for my number tonight. She called twice while I was at dinner and sent a text. She came by my house out of nowhere a couple of summers ago to ask for some of her abandoned property (long gone). I told her to let me know if she wanted to go out and talk sometime. She told me I ruined her life.
I'm going to sleep on this sudden reappearance and decide how to approach tomorrow.
Sometimes people disappear so for so long you mourn them as if they died. I haven't known her as an adult and it makes me sad that she sets off my alarms. I will go cautiously.

I know! I think it's a little overblown. It reminds me of being in situations as an adult where you see a child who is slightly awkward in a peer group and it just becomes blood in the water. From the outside the pariah child doesn't seem that bad, but the peer group disagrees. I find Madam Markle pretty funny and I hope her kids are well cared for and feel loved. (No shade, I just want that for all kids, especially cuckoo celeb spawn.)

People often want to put the blame on simple misogyny or racism, and I can't say there's nothing to that. However, these people are apples and oranges. The women on the list are all perceived to have some moral failing. They continue to thrust themselves into the spotlight and insist we love and consume them in spite of being unlikeable.
Meghan is perceived as a tone deaf try-hard who is simply not very good at anything she's attempted. In spite of this, she continues to beat against the window like a sad moth for our attention. The media (and Meghan's own social media) keep calling attention to her gaffes and mediocrity, fanning the flames.
Diddy, serial rapist and assaulter, has two major advantages in a ranking like this. He was arrested and convicted and is now out of sight, except for resurfacing occasionally to let us know what a soft little princeling he is behind bars. (No one is surprised about this.) Secondly, I thought the Netflix docudrama released about him made a pretty good case that his PR team reached a lot of influencers to declare his innocence and call his victims crazy money-grubbers during the trial phase, scrambling public opinion. Something similar happened during the Depp-Heard trial.
I think the author of this article makes some interesting points, but ultimately it's a miss. The severity of the crime doesn't matter--it's rating dislike.

I will miss my boss! He's health and safety and got facilities dumped on him so he just kind of trusted us to do our own thing. Which we did! I'll miss my lady coworker who is highly competent and was running things at fancy HQ. We were "good cop/blunt cop" in dealing with contractors. :)

I'm trying to hand off things to my coworker since I'm out of here starting next Wednesday, and now I'm realizing how much I've been carrying (fine, I'm making a lot more than he is and negotiated for a bunch of bennies as well). He's absolutely allergic to email and I'm realizing he has no idea what's going on here day to day. He ran down to let a roofing vendor in without knowing where the leak was. Dude it was all over our documentation and ticketing queue.
I'm telling him he's the new me and is going to have to start paying attention to things... His plan is to find another job. Whatever!
