We had 36 degree weather this time last week. and now on track for 15.
So. When us Brits start complaining that "It's a bit warm" please PLEASE bear in mind that we are used to the 15 degree shit.

Gods I'm getting so fucking sick of flagging up stock issues on the new build Vs repair stocks and being accused of using not labelling stuff when we handed it all over to stores.
1) we didn't "hand" anything over, they just took it.
2) we didn't keep new build stock.... Everything was for module repair.
Am giving serious thoughts to looking elsewhere for work >.<

Sometimes I do worry I've moved jobs and jumped from the frying pan into the same fucking frying pan -_-
My mental health is infinitely better. Though going from zero, that doesn't say much >.<
But there's so much mis-management here that it's starting to get to me -_-
People who are factory based asking "how long do repairs take?" "Can you make a BOM for a repair?"
And don't seem to understand that no, we can't tell you exactly what parts you'll need per module for a repair..... Or how long it'll take.
So they just ask the same questions again.
Worse still. We are doing a last time buy new build. The stuff is hand made in site and takes 6 months, plus our build time.
First deliveries are due end of Q2
The casting facility have only /just/ got their materials.
Only thing we get from them?
"The customer will be fine with the delay"
No. The customer is military. They will have their stuff, or harsh penalty clauses will be added!
But no. Thick fucks still have no clue -_-

Back from (finally) posting off some things.
Went to post office near old house (because despite there being closer ones, "aaaaaa, change"!)
Then the old virgin kit needed a yodel drop off point.
The only ones near us are either "convenience" stores (read. No parking) or there's a co-op a village over.... Which is a fuck on to get to.
So.... For the first time in a long while. I've actually felt like driving. So went to the co-op in Rutland about 20 minutes away. (Because I've been there before.... And "aaaaaa, change"!)
Was a nice bimble around scenic Rutland .

Have 3 mesh nodes. One in pantry, just over from kitchen where the root is. One by living room at back. and another in the workshop.
Have had NO issues for ages. Now I've lost the workshop and living room.
Did think it's because I blocked line of sight with a steel door..... But that's opposite direction to the workshop.
And the workshop is connecting via the pantry..... which is further away than the kitchen.
Problem is. when they start hopping through another node, I get random disconnects >.<
I think tomorrow is going to be spent connecting up some of the cables I have in.
Will need to dig out some switches >.<

was out with dad when they did the blade tracking on the S76.
High speed camera on the nose and put the aircraft through it's paces.
Dad got to do it due to his multi tens of thousands of flight hours and the fact he was an army air corps instructor and display pilot.
Last run of the day he asks if I want to have a go.
So I hop in the copilot chair, strap in and we taxi out to the end of the runway.
Power on, settle into hover at about 100ft. Get permission from tower and he noses down.
Now. Choppers generally put in a bit of nose. Gets the airframe moving. Then the tub becomes an airfoil and it settles....
I'm looking straight ahead through the windscreen and seeing grass.
I look up and see grass.
No skylights on a 76. But probably would've seen grass through that.
Hear the blades strain, the engines pick up and we go fucking off down the strip at a rate of knots >.>
Anyone else I'd have said it was reckless.
Not dad though o.o

Problem found.
Measured coils. All seemed OK
Found my unipolar breakout board. Figured out how to wire it.
Spent TOO long fucking around with Arduino on Linux trying to get a nano to drive it.
Found a Leonardo that worked.
Tested the 5v motor, worked
Put on the one from the AC.... Exactly the same.
It /tries/ to move with assistance..... But otherwise nothing.
Pulled it apart ..... Found the problem!!!

Aircon open again to look at the fault on the water outlet
The drain "Solenoid" isn't opening.
I have it in quotes because i noticed the cable has 5 wires in. Must have position feedback then. Or is proportional control......
No. It's an "off the shelf" geared stepper motor that's turning a plastic wheel 90 degrees, which, via a cable is pulling the sprung plunger. I doubt it's doing any finesse work. it's just, open, or close.....
Anyway. the stepper is vibrating when you run it. but not turning. has holding force as well when you try and manually turn the shaft.
So. 2 options.
Phase dead in motor - OK. can replace (if i can get one) and fix it!
Phase dead on control board..... FUCK!
It's rebranded chinese import stuff.... There's no details on what they are or if I can get new boards >.<
On plus side... I think I can just run it as is for now. i think the plunger is just used while it's switched off to stop things blowing in. It's not complaining that the motor is disconnected o.o

Just .... Struggling to get going.
We hoiked the dishwasher and washing machine upstairs. So have plumbed them in and they all work. Which is a bonus.
Washing machine sits proud of the cabinets though. Despite me leaving both the service gap AND extra to the wall >.<
Doesn't foul the cupboard next to it too much so that's less of a problem.
Now to go back to working on the living room.
"Studding" out walls with Lath. Then plasterboard.
Need to have a think about where to put sockets and lights.

Did the boarding the other day and is ready for power.
Before then I need to see if I can lower and right justify the consumer unit. The stuff coming from the right is too short for me to do the beaker move. And it's too high up to easily remove knockouts.
Am tempted to do what I've done in the kitchen and set it off the wall and do everything via rear entry.

The bit TV room building begins..... By ripping things out!!!
Drop ceiling is going in to take it from 3.something meters to 2.4. giving up some "loft" storage space. But the existing conduit fouls everything up. So out they go!!!

I am now at the point of doing smaller sections...... And using up leftover bits. I have one full 1800x900 board left for upstairs. Most of that is still spoken for o.<
Also have nearly 2 boards of 2400x1200. But that is much more unwieldy to get upstairs.....

Today am doing some wiring.
Tackled the consumer unit. So that's ready for testing and power. Will disconnect/lock off the stuff that isn't connected at the far end. But do need to fire up some power for some lights and possibly a socket in the kitchen soon.

do not be put off by needing the pain meds!!!!!
Especially at this stage of the healing process!!!
Take them on schedule! Don't think "will see if I need them" as you just end up miserable and in pain while you wait for them to kick in again o.<
The weaning off stage is in another week or 2 *sofa squeeze*

The text isn't cut through. I used settings for 3mm ply so it's barely half way through the 6mm.
However, the circle in the top left.
Using the settings I used to use for 6mm, with no dialing in or prior setup.....
Just barely off a full cut. Which I'll put down to it being construction ply. not laser ply! Soooo.....
Haven't stress tested it yet. But 'Log's back baby!!!

Yay. I managed to move a printer and reassemble the laser without throwing wither of them down the stairs in a rage.
It was fucking close though -_-
if/when docs get back to me. I may ask about going back on meds to even everything out again.
Bonus. my foot should stop randomly hurting again for a bit!
I managed to find antidepressants that didn't completely fuck me up while dealing with pain management. will see if i can get some of those again.

New album cover just dropped!!!
Someone "offered" is an instrument. Wouldn't take no for an answer and just dumped it on our doorstep.
Poor thing looks like it's been underwater. Possibly one of a kind and not restorable in any way shape or form. The reeds were blue with corrosion. Reed pan was cracked, keys were missing covers. Just..... Ruined
Oh. And full of LIVE woodworm! Fucking THANKS!
So angry with this person too. This was one of a kind and they ruined it >.<
Also a rather eye opening experience. Keys were cellulose. Same as the old filmstock. Those went up like a fucking firework o.<

Just had care home call.
Mum isn't taking anything orally any more. Isn't waking up properly either.
I fear it's hours now. Not days.

Fuuuucking hell. She needed help way before things got to the hospital stage -_-
She was hiding how she was doing.
Wore baggy clothes and practically depleted her wardrobe.
Just cleared off the spare bed as am stopping here. Found out the hard way that all the clothes on there weren't clean and needing to be put away. But never made it to the washing machine o.<
Fucks sake mother -_- I know where I get my unwillingness to ask for help from anyway. Both her and dad o.<

Been to see mum. She's resting.
She has fluid on her stomach that is causing pain. So she's been prescribed meds for that.
She's very yellow. Don't know if that's because she hasn't been taking her pancreas medication or if it's just the cancer causing issues.
Very frank conversation with brother about the state of things and how stuff is likely to progress.
Respect form in place so the home have instructions to treat the pain/symptoms. But not to administer resus measures.
I feel bad for wanting it to end quickly. But I have to remind myself that what she has right now.... It isn't living -_-

Found in my collection while preparing to move.
The "fitall" plug.
From the time when the UK had several different plug standards (circa 1960's)
After the second small disagreement there was a shortage of copper and brass for some reason. Coupled with the fact we had a 2, 5 and 15 Amp round pin standard.
So we ended up with a new plug (BS1363), and a new wiring system (ring final)
The new plugs were better as they had square pins, better for making decent connections. They had other safety features such as fuses and finger guards.
Fast forward a few years and you still had houses around with a mix of 2, 5, 15 Amp round pin, and 13A square pin.
Enter, the enterprising Fitall plug. With all the various connections you might need.
Just flip the lever, select which pins and either screw or twist them to lock in place.
Easy >.>

So. A while back while clearing Lucian's stuff. We took possession of some valves. In there was a Vidicon tube. I sadly had to return that as it went to the broadcast museum peeps.
Cut to yesterday when we got another batch of choobs from a friend..... Containing not one.
Not two.
But THREE Vidicon choobs o.o
This is how stuff was filmed on analogue TV o.o
It's effectively a back to front CRT.
The front is a special coating that can "store" an image that's being projected on it.
Then a scanning electron beam within the tube flashes across the front plate in the same manner as in a CRT. The electrons interact with the light and dark parts of the image and are spat out via a ring at the front.
One tube for black and white. Often 3 of them for colour.
