I don't think adding any on-chain addresses is conducive to an open society.
The lightning network offers privacy. An XMR address, Bitcoin address, stablecoin address, etc. is not private in my opinion.
You could use liquid to hide your stablecoin balance and I'm not claiming that anyone can track monero.
An XMR address signals that you accept monero.
A stable coin address signals that you accept stable coins.
A lightning address is like an email address.
You can theoretically accept monero with a lightning address.
You can use https://breez.technology/glow to accept stable coins.
The difference is nobody needs to know you're a USD stablecoin maxi if your zaps get atomically swapped to electronic fiat.
Adding on chain addresses signals that you accept monero or whatever. That causes tribalism, mystical thinking, arguing, and a closed society.

I see it as sort of a fractional reserve system. To be fair, Cashu has the same potential. There are so e promising developments that might help, but it's too early to tell.
That's not my biggest problem with adding a Monero address to a nostr identity though.

What type of addresses do Anchor watch use? Native Segwit, Taproot, etc?
Is KYC info encrypted?
If someone is robbed, and Anchowatch finds the culprit, is there a way the victim get their Bitcoin back?
Have you considered offering insurance to nocoiners who may have a high net worth, but no Bitcoin?

Thanks for sharing. I went to the conference that year, but didn't catch this. I also had no idea that people think debt backed bucks is a good idea, especially when the national debt is already bigger than the entire gold market cap and Bitcoin marketcap combined.

I've been writing a think boi article comparing bitcoin/sats to physical, metal coins.
My thesis is that the year stamped on physical coins is a time-stamp designed to verify a certain quantity of metal at a certain time.
The Bitcoin network is a time-stamp server that stamps electronic coins approximately every 10 minutes, but it verifies ownership via digital signatures instead of a quantity of metal.
I don't think Bitcoin is energy. Sure it requires energy to stamp stuff, but we don't say nickels are energy because mints use electricity. We don't say nickels are energy because E=mc². Bitcoin is an electronic coin as Satoshi described.
