Interesting arguments. I have no problem with the income tax and I have no problem taxing land owned by corporations. I would argue property owned for commercial use / income should be subject to property tax.
I’m not a fan of tax deductions. It’s makes the tax system overly complex and lets the wealthy avoid paying their share.
The tax form should be a post card You made this much, you paid this much and you own us this much. They already know the answer. It’s stupid.

Real estate is the only thing the government can steal after if you’ve already paid for it utilizing the tax system.
Our community uses a tax on electricity to finance all of our road repairs, construction and reconstruction so there are other mechanisms for generating revenue.
It would be interesting to have academia dive into this issue and find ways outside of tariffs and outside of property taxes to finance federal, state, county, township and city expenses.

I was talking to a friend yesterday about the tariffs and the motivation for them. It was his understanding that before the income tax was created on Feb 25 193 (16th amendment) the United States federal government financed its entire budget on tariffs. Well I don’t know if that is true, I certainly intend to delve into it more.
As a side note I am not a fan of property taxes because in my view it’s theft and keeps people poor. Imagine giving your home to your child when you die unencumbered.

Townsquare Media’s KOLM/1520 (Rochester, MN) is the latest AM radio station to go off the air citing financial challenges.
The station went silent on April 1, with an April 9 FCC filing stating, “Due to economic conditions in the market, the licensee was forced to take the station off the air temporarily.”
The shutdown follows Townsquare’s silencing of KJOC/1170 (Davenport) a month earlier. Cumulus Media also recently took KBGG/1700 (Des Moines) off the air.

Tesla has been removed from the Vancouver International Auto Show.
The decision was announced Tuesday afternoon, March 18, by Eric Nicholl, executive director of the 2025 event taking place this week at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
In a statement, Nicholl explained the American-based automaker was given multiple chances to voluntarily withdraw from the show.
"The Vancouver Auto Show’s primary concern is the safety of attendees, exhibitors, and staff," Nicholl added.
