I’ve often wondered about what’s real in Africa, a lot. Growing up I felt the only images I had of Africa were all documentaries and news on the telly. I hardly ever knew anyone who really lived there. Overtime, I just felt I was just being fed whatever limited sources I had and formed probably a fairly one-sided opinion.
And then it’s not just “one” Africa, is it? How many are even aware of the number of sovereign countries there?

I guess I stopped being disappointed after a few interactions. If they don’t state the pick-up address upfront, I assume they’re scammers. “We can post it to you”. No, thanks. It’s mainly certain types of items. I’ve had good experience with used furniture. And I got lucky with a camera and iPad.

Last time I bought an AV Receiver was mid 2012. Prior to that my surround sound system was from 2001. So that’s 11 years and my replacement expected tomorrow would make it 14 years between drinks. It really started dying a year or two ago but our HomePod made it less urgent.
Anyway, I was camped inside Facebook Marketplace ala @npub1a2k…c9wf but my experience pushed me towards a new one instead. So many “neighbors” with amazing deals turned out to be interstate scammers.

I don’t know the oldest piece of clothing I have that’s still in my wardrobe, but I would think it’s at least early 90’s.
Stuff I have had to thrown out are either worn so thin the holes can’t be patched, and/or the elastic was terminal and could not be changed years ago. And I do get rid of socks 🧦 mostly.
