That’s btw the reason nostr as social media is not for everybody. It’s a pretty boring place if you want just to consume.
And that create part is also interesting. Take linkedin or instagram where most people who try to make a name for themselves are creating too, they write articles and posts that are supposed to provide value while it’s mostly just a parody on the actual value. Many of those creators probably wouldn’t enjoy nostr very much.
What I love about creating on nostr is that it has to be honest. It doesn’t need to be perfect. In fact, nostr is really chill about imperfection. But it has very little patience for pretenders.
It’s really interesting how the system design encourages behavior that feels so close to real-life human interactions..

True. But in the case of working for free I‘m creating value for someone.
I‘m not saying it‘s always a bad thing, for example working for non-profits that I actively choose, but in my experience, people who ask me to work for free or with a significant discount are just trying to save money. No to that.

Do logos matter any more & what’s branding, really?
Let’s play a game. Don’t look, answer from the top of your mind.
1. How many waves are in the Spotify logo?
2. Is there a star in the SpaceX logo?
3. What color is the Amazon arrow?
4. What shape is behind the YouTube play button?
5. How many colors are in the Google logo?
If you had to check more than once, then tell me why should anyone remember the logo of your project?
Much more important than a logo, and even visual identity (typical visual elements like colors and fonts you use repeatedly to create a feeling of familiarity), is this thing called branding.
Branding means how people feel about the project. And that’s not something you can buy.
Well, you can buy some guidelines on how and where to perform activities that will lead to good relationships with your audience, but the work will be on you. Not some smelly AI content or vibe-designed stuff. You, building those relationships peer-to-peer.
Logos and visual identities will still have their place. But a good reputation comes first.
I’m saying this as someone who has designed logos and visual styles for a living for more than 15 years. I’ve seen the market transform several times. We had seasons of print, then SEO and PPC, and then social media, before marketing finally culminated in an aggressive algorithm-driven attention-grabbing monstrosity.
And honestly, I don’t think there’s much more space for this to move even further than a 5-second video with frantic editing.
From the position of brands, we are now entering the era of trust.
If you don’t want to blindly follow what Alphabet, Meta or OpenAI have in store for you (oh, it will be user-centric, for sure...), you will need to have the ability to verify your trust in what you see on your display.

How do I tag nostriches in a long-form article so that clicking their names opens their profiles, regardless of the client?
I tried creating a link and using the npub as the url, but that only works when the article is viewed in the Primal desktop.

Went to see this trending horror Obsession, and yeah the hype is justified.
Characters are good, acting is really good and some seemingly ordinary scenes like “she has nightmares that he will leave her” are shot in a way that a theater full of teenagers who won‘t usually shut up went dead silent.
Altogether great date movie. Well maybe not for the first date..

I installed it on my old 2015 macbook pro with 32 GB RAM and integrated Intel graphics, and this particular image took around 10 minutes to generate.
There was a bunch of terminal work during the setup, but nothing chatgpt/claude couldn’t handle 😉
I mean, I can get this level of realism out of chatgpt too, but it’s the feeling that your computer actually did it that makes the whole experience strangely different.
But I’m probably more sensitive to these things, so take this as a highly subjective take. 😁

So I finally got Stable Diffusion running with some recent models, and right there in the very first test prompt, just to see how things would go, I got this portrait.
First, the feeling of generating AI images locally feels waaay different from sending prompts to openai or midjourney in the cloud.
Second, it instantly occurred to me that if AGI wanted me to suspect absolutely nothing, this is exactly what it would make itself look like. 😁
You probably went through this a long time ago, but generating locally with Stable Diffusion brings a whole new level of emotion for me...

This is the very essence of nostr as social network to me. It‘s the element of randomness that goes through the mind of the nostr user. It was said many times that nostr is like coming to a party where you have to do the work of social interaction to discover familiar topics and like minded people. And when you do that, the result is algo free and ot feels real. To me it‘s like the old myspace days. You search and you find.
One of my favorite Bible verses is - Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.
This of course is a bit over-spiritualized, but that‘s basically how I see the nostr interactions among other social media.

I love drums. It‘s the most sexy instrument if you ask me. I play guitar since I was 8 and then drums when I was 15. Because drums were too cool not to play it. I‘m always excited when I see a drum set.
