This is what I see as well.
It’s fair enough if people don’t find value in the music, but it’s definitely a discussion that deserves some attention.
I’m pretty sure most of us would like to see a more decentralized version of the world, but right now, I have to say that Spotify is unfortunately my most reliable source of income tied directly to music streaming. Yes, there are other ways to earn a living, like live shows, merchandise, or even selling hotdogs, but I’m old school and still believe that recorded music has its own value.
We have great potential here to make this space the independent and edgy alternative to Spotify, and a more successful version of Bandcamp. Without a better plan to make it happen, it will be difficult to convince newly onboarded artists not to lose interest after just a few months.

The piece I miss the most is to be able to share Nostr music links and expect a player showing up directly in the comment (just like in @nprofile…m0xe ) in all the most popular apps. Right now, it doesn't seem possible (or I don't know how to do it). I believe Nostr would benefit a lot from a standardized, smooth integration of native Nostr music, directly in posts and comments. As it is now, they look broken, or like spam.

Finding Home Episode 4 - "The Bittersweet Alchemist" was published today. The trip goes to London/Manchester and we get to meet @nprofile…acdf and hear his interesting story (and pretty bizarre US experience).

As I also mentioned in the PM, I see no problem in @nprofile…pz5f (front- or backend). It shows 13 tracks and 5 albums, just as intended. I only had to delete the unwanted tracks and album once, and all was gone.

Thanks a lot for this comment. I have tried countless times to delete all those tracks, and that one album, without success in @nprofile…m0xe. They just reappeared shortly after deleting them. In @Sunami it worked right away, and they remain deleted. Wonderful. However, in Nostria they are still there. Maybe @nprofile…0ds9 could get some inspiration from your way of doing it. I love the idea of native Nostr music, but stopped uploading when I couldn't delete tracks and releases (if necessary). Once again, thanks for the comment and for showing that it's possible to also delete music.

Thanks! 🙂 I actually considered that approach at first, but decided to do it the “hard way” and learn everything from scratch 🎸
Once I realized how many small pieces of the album feed need updating for every release, I took it a step further and built my own offline album feed generator. It auto-fills the parts that never change (in the backend), pre-populates form fields for track durations and defaults for things that rarely change, and leaves clean fields for what needs updating each time. When everything’s filled out, it displays the full code and generates a correctly named XML file for download.
I also wanted the XML to be as clean and human-readable as possible (and sneak in a bit of personal branding), which added some extra complexity. But now it’s (hopefully) working exactly how I envisioned.

Your story really resonates. It reminds me a lot of life as a full-time musician/artist over the decades. Kind of a bumpy ride, but even when the rewards weren't always financially impressive, they mattered in other ways.
What feels different this time, at least to me, is seeing creative people from so many fields connecting with real enthusiasm, all determined to move away from systems that feel broken beyond repair. Without gatekeepers, there is real potential to build something that truly rewards creativity. Definitely a challenge, but I'm sure it can be done. And that's when we will see a lot more people joining the party.
Your level of dedication is rare, and that kind of commitment often comes at a cost. It is good to hear you have found something that helps when it gets overwhelming.

I’m slowly bringing my catalog to Nostr Music. ♪♫ It feels good to share older work in a space that hasn’t heard it before. In a way, it’s like starting from zero again, but it’s worth it.

RSS music still seems to be the No.1 way to share music on Nostr ♪
It’s probably only a matter of time before native Nostr music does it just as well, or better.
Right now, the only client supporting it (as far as I know) is the @nprofile…m0xe app 🔥🔥🔥
Until other popular clients step up their game, I guess RSS music is the way to go.

I stopped using Instagram and Twitter (X didn’t exist back then) a long time ago. I still post on Facebook because that’s where most people follow me for music updates. But Nostr is clearly the future, and after a transition period I’m sure that this is where I’ll be posting exclusively, together with my website and newsletter.
Even though I’ve been active since before 2000, it feels like starting from zero here on Nostr. It’s a cool challenge, and it’s exciting to be part of building a new music network the way it should have been all along ♪♫🎸

🙏 I have a long history with the legacy platforms, and even before them (the CD era). I never really resonated with the old, declining music industry. Too many gatekeepers, too much friction, and it keeps getting worse. By design.
Nostr and RSS music are still early, but there’s huge potential here. To me, they feel like the opposite of what’s broken in the old system.

No it was (longer ago) about the same time I posted that other comment about the same track. Think it was 333 or something like that (with only a couple of emojis since I had just written that other comment). Just a shame if you're missing zaps that should go to you. If it was just this one, no big deal, but if it happens now and again, that's kind of problematic.

Btw... I think there might be a problem with this song on Fountain. I zapped it last night (with an ultra-short comment) and it still doesn't show, but I can see that it registered in my wallet so it's a bit strange.
