They seem to have a bunch of problems after their latest update unfortunately. My latest release isn't even registered on Fountain (but everywhere else). Also, several releases have the wrong track order, which is pretty annoying. I've reached out to them a couple of times (also on their Nostr page) without getting any response. I can only assume they are aware of the problem, but don't know how to fix it. For now, I just link to other apps instead. Not only does Stablekraft ROCK 🎸🎸🎸, it also gets the track order right every time. Surprisingly, that's still a challenge for some Podcasting 2.0 apps.
When I release music with more than one track, the sequence matters. Whether it's just two tracks like this release or a full album with 8–10 tracks, the order is an important part of the listening experience.

Same for me unfortunately. Some of my releases (with more than one track) now have random track order instead of the intended one (which is specified in the album feed). Everything was fine until the latest update. Both the web- and phone app seem to be affected.
I've noticed that I'm not alone with this problem.

Yes, I noticed the track-ordering-fix and that's why it felt like the perfect time to put a spotlight on your cool creation. However, I just noticed that it no longer skips to the next track on an album (which it did earlier). Maybe just a temporary hiccup. Also, for some strange reason, it has pulled in all my releases, except "The Embrace". But then again, how boring would life be without its small mysteries :)

I can't really comment on the community at large. I've been around long enough to know a fair number of people here, but not enough to speak for everyone.
But the ROI argument makes a lot of sense to me. It's hard to onboard artists with decent followings if the economics don't make sense for them.
I'm still here despite that because I believe in what we're building. But the reality is that I make more from Spotify in a single day than I make from a month in the Valueverse.
Spotify deserves much of the criticism it gets, and I'd love to see the Valueverse become the go-to place for independent artists. Right now, though, at least from where I stand, the gap isn't closing. It's moving in the other direction.
If we want more artists to show up, we probably need to spend less time explaining why they should be here and more time making it financially obvious 🎸🎸🎸

It was pretty cool to see the comment cross-posted on the same track in Fountain, including the StableKraft link as well. This only happened with tracks that had a Fountain wallet in the album feed, so I'm guessing that had something to do with it, but I'm not sure. Maybe some other sorcery was at play 🧙‍♂️🪄🌟
That said, it could be a really interesting feature to see across all major apps. Comments are great promotion for artists, and having them follow album feeds in some way could increase creators' willingness to promote smaller apps as well.
I suspect many artists and podcasters are more likely to promote the app where comments, reactions, and zaps are visible if they're choosing between two apps of similar quality. If those interactions are visible everywhere, though, they might be more willing to direct people to the app with the better features, even if it's less well known. I could be wrong.
Great idea to have a toggle that lets people choose whether a comment is reposted to their profile.

I had no idea that the comments in the zaps were automatically published to my Nostr page. Maybe an idea to mention it on the zap popup. I'm fine with it and happy to promote, but others might see it differently. However, it would be pretty cool if the comments were published to StableKraft (I have additional inputs about that in the upcoming PM).

I've been testing it in a number of ways, and honestly, I have no idea. Sometimes it works pretty well, often it doesn't. Sometimes it appears to improve a bit by changing browser, but then it suddenly changes. I tried bypassing VPN, and also tried changing VPN locations. I tried bypassing both ad blocker and enhanced tracking protection. I tried private windows. The results appear to be random, which makes no sense. Other websites function as expected (various locations), so I don't think it's a geo problem. However, as I said, if I am the only one with this issue, then forget about it. In that case, it's my personal problem that I should solve :) Maybe I just need a priest to perform an exorcism and sprinkle some holy water in the corners of where I live... haha.

Totally understand what you're saying about CDNs. But that isn't what I'm talking about here. The whole Sunami page is very slow to load. Sometimes minutes. And sometimes it needs a couple of refreshes before it loads fully. I'm not sure why. Maybe it just me, but it's the same on all my computers (Linux and Windows). I've tried deleting site data, cache, etc. I just wanted you to know, if you weren't aware of it. However, if it's just me, then just ignore my comment.
Sounds very good that you do no processing. Neither does Fountain (they have a few other playback problems, especially when you use them in a browser instead of the phone app). And now StableKraft doesn't do processing either.

But you're touching on a pretty important topic.
Most people are not aware of it, but most legacy apps have a normalization feature to achieve what you're talking about. Among those who are aware of it, opinions are divided. Personally, I'm all for it when it's done right.
How Spotify does it:
First of all, it is non-destructive. In other words, they don't use traditional dynamic range compression (such as 12:1 compression). Instead, they measure the LUFS of the track (a simple explanation would be its "energy" or perceived loudness) and adjust all tracks up or down in volume to hit the same target level. Since they're only adjusting volume, they don't manipulate the sound itself. The result is essentially the same as you adjusting the volume on your playback device. The difference is that they do it automatically, so you can just enjoy the music at a consistent volume without having to do anything.
They aim for 14 LUFS and -1 dB true peak (where 0 dB is the maximum).
It works incredibly well.
If you play an album, it adjusts the album as a whole. That means you still get the intended album experience, where some tracks are played back louder than others, just as the producer intended.
If you play a playlist with random tracks, it adjusts the tracks individually to match the 14 LUFS target.
Eventually, I'm sure we'll see something similar in the Nostr/RSS space. But I have a feeling it will take a while before someone manages to implement it well.

Cool. 🎸 I'm not completely sure, the gapless might work now. But since everything loads extremely slow I can't tell for sure. It took me a couple of minutes to navigate to my artist page from the front page (tried on both laptop and studio PC). I will do a more thorough test when it's up and running as intended. Great that you're having a look at the search function too. It doesn't work at all for me.
Another question, do you apply any kind of processing to the audio before it reaches me, or is it my original file with zero additional changes to it? Maybe it's just my imagination, but it feels like the same release on Fountain sounds a little bit more "open". I'm not sure. Need to have a closer listen.
I'm just asking because I realized that the StableKraft app seems to do some severe (sound) compression of the sound, so apparently this is something to be aware of.
Sunami is nothing like that, and maybe just my imagination 🙂

Yes, subscription software deals suck. They'd already been doing that for a while, and I wasn't pleased about it. But the final dealbreaker for me was when they revealed what they were really about and didn't allow graphic artists to use their products if they happened to live in the "wrong" country, because their government didn't agree with some other government.
That's when the "own nothing and be happy" agenda pulls off its mask and shows its ugly face.
I ended my subscription and never looked back. I miss nothing from Adobe.

Just like with the music, no rules and different every time.
The graphics for this post is pretty old-school: camera work and photo (actually video) editing. These days, I do most of the text editing and logo stuff in Affinity Photo & Designer.
I abandoned all Adobe products when shit hit the fan in 2020/21.

Thank you for your response. I appreciate you clarifying your intent.
To be clear, my original post was to understand how people in the community view this kind of activity. Nothing vague about that.
I want to understand whether this is a community I want to continue investing my time in. If the majority supports this behavior, I would rather step away. The only way to get a sense of that is to ask openly.
A post can be clear and still be misread when it isn’t fully engaged with.
There’s no need to revisit or debate what was said in the roundtable discussion. People can listen and draw their own conclusions, and hopefully they will, because it was an important conversation.

Right now I’m checking out the V4V Roundtable, and it seems that you have interpreted my post as support for this behavior, which is both surprising and disappointing.
As Matt points out, I want to understand people's opinions about this.
It is much easier to get an honest response by asking a fairly neutral question.
When I saw the pirate upload I’m commenting on, I was genuinely disappointed to see this happening in the Nostr space. I wanted to get a better understanding of whether I have been wasting my time investing so much in this community since I joined last year. I have no interest in building my presence in a piracy space.
If you had read my post carefully, it should have been clear that I do not support this behavior. A few of my comments would have made that even clearer.
Also, when I put a heart and a zap on your "Hard pass" repost two days ago, it should have been a pretty strong indication that we are on the same page.
I have been an active part of the international music scene since the '90s, with an extensive catalog and tours around the world. I have witnessed the dark side of being ripped off and watched much of the business collapse firsthand.
That makes it not only disappointing, but genuinely hurtful, to be labeled as supportive of something I have been struggling with for the past 25 years.

Explains a lot. My latest post showed up immediately in YakiHonne, Nostria (and several others that I checked) but not in Primal. Half a day later, still nothing. I started getting flashbacks to legacy social media and shadowbanning... haha 😅 (it finally showed up, with a little help from https://nostrsync.vercel.app/ )
