The full post: I see that Stella Creasy is accusing me of leading a pitchfork mob against her, because I opined that she is less likeable and more hypocritical than the wild parakeet she mistook for an escaped pet.
For those who don’t know, Creasy is an elected politician and self-proclaimed ‘old-fashioned feminist’ who is ‘still fighting the patriarchy’. She’s more than once publicly defined herself against me (and my reaction was not to accuse her of leading a mob, even though I was probably averaging a dozen death threats a day at the point when the article below appeared.)
I thought it might be instructive for those of us who don’t share Creasy’s brand of ‘feminism’ to examine her campaigning record, so we can learn to do better.
Creasy wants women admitted to the male-only, exclusive, London-based private members Garrick Club, a change that would benefit rather privileged women like Creasy. Creasy is a mother who wants better accommodations for working mothers, a change that would benefit Creasy. Creasy takes selfies at a men-only Muslim march because that reminds everyone how non-racist she is, which benefits Creasy. Creasy asserts that ‘trans women are women’, which keeps her in good odour with her party’s most aggressive activists, and benefits Creasy.
However, keeping cross-dressing heterosexual men out of nurses’ changing rooms doesn’t benefit Creasy, because Creasy has never had to mop up other people’s piss, blood and vomit at work. Challenging the notion that a male basketball player becomes a girl if he says he is doesn’t benefit Creasy, who has no sporting ambitions. Speaking up against the patriarchy as practised by non-white men doesn’t benefit Creasy, who wants those selfie-opportunities. Criticising an ideological movement that persecutes, harasses and openly threatens women who don’t believe some women have penises wouldn't benefit Creasy, because she's already fully-signed up to self-id, where any man who says he's a woman must be taken at his word.
As the late Gloria Steinem said: ‘“Feminism has never been about getting a job for one woman. It's about making life more fair for women everywhere.’
Creasy the patriarchy-challenger is provably more than happy to cosy up to men and misogynist movements when it suits her public profile and career advancement, no matter the harms those men might be causing less privileged women. By Steinem’s definition, what Stella espouses is not feminism, but Creasyism, and I suggest the emblem for this brave new rights movement should be an indignant parakeet with severely ruffled feathers.

My regular, old Spinster is all fucked up... The home timeline now gives me two tabs at the top and my profile info at the bottom of the lefthand sidebar... Might have to delete my account over there earlier than I wanted to. It's getting weirder and weirder by the day.

Have been kinda busy yesterday. Had to go for my first meeting for my *fake* teeth... I don't know the English terms for this... mes deux prothèses / partiels, faire faire les empreintes pour couler les moules.
It was early in the morning, 8 AM, traveled via public transport, and it's on the south shore (CÉGEP Édouard-Montpetit) so didn't have time to have my coffee or breakfast. The student who has my file and will see me through the whole fitting process. It took maybe 90 minutes in all, nearly two hours. Adèle was with me. When I came out she was in a bad state. We had to take a taxi to get back and go to the ER at the hospital next door from where we live.
We got there at 10h30 AM and we came out of the ER at 18h30. God I hate the ER. You wait for ever. I had to stay close to her, she had a swollen leg (below the knee) and was feeling a lot of pain when she tried to walk. So I didn't have a chance to eat or grab coffee, got a huge headache from coffee withdrawal: the vending machines were useless at the ER, they couldn't handle debit cards/didn't connect.
They did a blood test on her, ran a scan on her leg. During all this waiting time, she searched the web for the symptoms and she was worried she had phlebitis because of all the meds and precautions you have to take, plus she will be going to China for three weeks for a tai chi thing later this fall.
Turns out she had a ruptured Baker cyst but she has to be extra careful because it can turn into phlebitis. So made sure once this stupid day was over she was comfortable at home and went to my home afterwards. Today, I will also be out a bit, I have to run a few errands for her, go get her meds she needs to take and grab some stuff for me at the grocery store...

Please note that I have not finished the book yet, but I'm pretty advanced in it at 60 % and, unless something goes seriously sideways, this book looks like it's a *Keeper* and also a *Favourite*. The author is Grace Parkes, and I've read quite a few of *her* books (with books, you never know if the author is truly a woman or a male) and the writing is so uneven, some books are written in a very awkward manner, typos, sentences turned in a way someone who does not master totally the English language would write and I do not finish them, I'm either bored with the storyline, bland characters or embarrassed by the quality. In fact it's so uneven, not sure if it's not an umbrella author name for AI *authors* to practice or if it's what I call an *author farm* where newbies are trying out their hand at writing to see how it goes or something. Anywho.
It's labelled as being an *ice queen* novel/romance, but this one has a twist. The writing style is creative, unusual and very nimble, I love the images the sentences generate in my mind and I've never seen this writing style before.
Anyway, the book is part of the *L.A. Ice Queens series*, the book is the third one in the series, *Her Surrender*. As an example, the first one in the series, I coud not finish and put it in the doghouse. The second one was very good and it narrowly made my *Keepers* list but not a *Favourite*.
