About to finish up POA obligations with my mums estate next 6 weeks. We had a 5 year journey that escalated slowly but ended in a stroke. We were fortunate to have had open and honest discussions about this phase with all family members involved. Currently staying with parent in laws and their family communication style involves a complete avoidance of frank intergenerational discussion about the realities of aging in place. They all know shit could happen at any moment but no one is grounding their journey in reality. I can see a shit show on the horizon. 😟
