I pity people who are accustomed to playing with high latency because they do not know how good low latency feels, but at the same time I envy them because they can just enjoy the game without worrying about optimizing the latency. (There has to be a name for this feeling… I feel the same way about people who are accustomed to listening to music in low quality. )Anyway my monitor's latency is not particularly good, so it's only the audio latency that I've been able to ultra‐optimize (I'm a rhythmgamefag), and only on native troonix games since emulator developers always neglect the audio latency.

On my 'puter, in native troonix rhythm games (e.g. pytaiko and project heartbeat) the audio latency is so much lower than the video latency that the asynchrony triggers my autism. (I fell for the 60Hz IPS meme. )Thank you for reading my blog post.

I actually hate retroarch, but you won't find its latency mitigation features in most standalone emulators. It also saves me the effort of learning a gorillion different frontends since all emulators use a different one. Although retroarch is inadequate for anything beyond psx and n64.

I guess that what I appreciate about appimages is that they behave like normal executables instead of needing gay wrappers like flatpak applications do, so I can just dump them into *.local/bin*.

I was convinced that bluetooth could not be made to have low latency, but the dualchud and wiimote redpilled me. Anyway it makes sense that wifi is probably not optimized for periodic, small data like gamepad input.
