Florian finds GNOME a great community that welcomed him with open arms (once he dared to make the jump). He found some real friends over time.
There is also the mission. Providing a computing platform that is driven by vision and need rather than monetization opportunities and a strive for market domination is as important as it ever was.
Last but not least, when GNOME builds an OS "for everyone", that includes him. When GNOME gets better, so does his computing experience.

Florian started contributing around 2009, as he said if his contribution was a person, it would be aproaching voting age right now. He contributes to gnome-shell, but also mutter, gnome-shell-extensions, polari. In addtion, as he has been around for a while, there's the occasional contribution to other bits and pieces around GNOME (GTK, control-center, gnome-settings-daemon, ...).

She works with a youth groups and has helped Oxford City Council run an anti-HBT bullying initiative. She runs several initiatives to support LGBTQA+ visibility and diversity in STEM. In 2018, Baker gave the TEDx talk entitled "Why we need to build trust to create diversity in institutions".

Despite his loyalty and heroic acts for his country, Turing was prosecuted by the British government for being homosexual, and given an ultimatum - go to prison for years, and thus barred from research, or accept chemical castration in an attempt to "cure" him of his homosexuality. 2 agonizing years later, Turing commited suicide via cyanide posioning, leaving behind a lot of unfinished research.

It is not an easy topic. Computer scientists having been working on AI technologies since the 60s. Rchard Stallman himself was an AI scientist at MIT.
If we don't have a clear idea of what it is, it is hard to have a debate on how it can be used (or not).

The Sovereign Tech Funds investment may not be used to develop technologies which would help interface with platforms that would hamper your sovereignty. The clue is in the name of the entity doing the investing.
That said, that the Sovereign Tech Fund is financing some tasks, does not mean KDE will not carry out other tasks, even within the same projects as those being funded elsewhere.

For those questioning the use of systemd in KDE Linux, it's fine. It is a fine framework on which we can build a distro, and the systemd folks are quick to correct errors.
Those pesky bugs? Well, these things happen. It's just unfortunate that two colliding bugs happened at the same time. That is why we have alpha, beta, and release candidates before we are confident enough to release a production version.

A: "Plasma system", not "KDE system". Get your naming right.
Either way, what do you even mean "pure Plasma system"?
One of the main drives behind Plasma is to give people—including distro maintainers, options. PLM is just one more option. That is all. Nobody at KDE is going to run around with purity tests checking which distros comply with a set of rules you are imagining in your head.

A: No. The Plasma Login Manager is one of probably half a dozen Login Managers (or more) that can boot Plasma. We made PLM because it will give distro creators a cool piece of kit that can (not "must", not "should": *can*) be tacked onto a system to boot into Plasma.
