Very similar to my path. I've gotten so used to no advertisements and notifications that I can't stand them now and can't even watch regular TV or regular YT.
If you haven't gone down this road yet, start with Newpipe or Brave on YT. It's so peaceful 🧘‍♂️

Interesting, I too was raised SDA. Don't meet too many people out and about with this background.
As an adult it has been interesting to see the history of America and some of cultural forces that were in play when these "newer" Christian churches (SDA, Mormon, JW, etc) were founded. I think that's why many of them share similar forms and doctrines.
There are definitely some good cultural parts of these churches that I really admire. But, some parts are just too 'out there' or elitist for me to deal with.

Sounds like your starter needs a rebuild. The brushes inside wear out over time. I've had serveral cars over the years with the same symptoms (starter needing a bump from the battery directly or a tap with a hammer)
Rebuilds kits are pretty inexpensive.

I'm loving Nostrgram so far! It would be awesome to have a search function. Also would be nice to have a way to see pubkeys in peoples' profiles and note identifiers so those can be copied and pasted elsewhere.
