People think the President can do what he wants as far as his security. And nots true. Th SS can put a cabash on something if they feel it's too great of a risk. And it's odd that the Pres, the VP AND the ENTIRE cabinet was there. Because if the VP dies. The Cabinet selects who the next VP might be. So, that is very interesting. Vance is not unusual. In a situation like this (had it been real), they go for the VP quicker. Because if the president is killed, the VP takes over. If both are killed, then the Speaker takes over. And politically, nobody wants the Speaker to take over, because you may not always know which party they are. So it's protocol to rush out the VP as fast as possible. BUT in principle, you will NEVER see them both together outside of the WH. So for them BOTH to be there was unusual.

I’m sus. I’m deaf in my left ear from birth. And once it’s lost, it ain’t coming back without an incredibly invasive surgery. When the President gets elected, he's given a package. And these are perks he is given and Congress authorizes after every inauguration. And he gets funding for a nice library with memorabilia. The Framers in their divine wisdom wrote the Constitution as a "thou shalt have" document. It confers rights and responsibilities. And it intentionally doesn't refer to the Presidency all that much. Because if it was a "thou shalt not" document there would easily be this logic where the President have unlimited power. "Well, the Constitution doesn't say I can't do this, so I'm going to" sort of thing. So laws have had to be written to give those rights. And we've FUCKED ourselves.

I don't think he suspended it outright. Because the theory at the time was the people he was sending to Gitmo were foreign nationals, and as such were not covered under the Constitution. Which has been struck down by the SCOTUS since then. But he didn't suspend it for me or you, and he didn't use the Insurrection Act.

The President, being the Commander in Chief of the military can make offensives without the authorization of Congress by virtue of being the Commander. You know I looked at a map of Minneapolis, and there is a Sons of Norway center right next to like a Somali restaurant, two Korean places and then a few burger joints. Well, the administrative branch has gotten too long in the teeth. There are some people, a lot of people, he can do that to. He cannot do that to the SCOTUS though. But the Framers never gave Congress equal immunity like the SCOTUS does, and the SCOTUS is not democratically elected. So our government is very lopsided with more power being placed in presidential appointments than elected officials.

I don't think capitalism is so much a huge issue as much as republicanism is. Countries that have parliamentary governments are less corrupt.
