Keep in mind that just because you are a maxi who self custodies, and consumes all the btc content, doesn't automatically makes you an expert about securing your family and friends btc, you are just passing information that you learned from the community, if even btc OGs and coders got blindsided by this, how can you assure your family and friend that your setup for them is solid? Just be transparent about what you know, the options, the pros and cons of self custody and let people choose their path. Not everyone is revolution material.

I stopped advising people to self custody, it's a lot of responsibility, if something happens to their funds its on you, what i do is just explain the options and tradeoffs. Self custody is hard, don't try to fool people, for most people having the coins on an exchange is still the best option.

Miners can always have out of band services, Ocean could have a service where you would send your tx to them alone for only them to get your tx fee. BTW right now you can pay out of band in LN or fiat to some big pools to accelerate your txs, doesn't that break fee estimates? doesn't that benefits big pools? Stop falling for gaslighting.

Bitcoin needs to have more node implementations, Core has a way too big market share, same for mining, its centralized. Right now core can put a SF, and 3 or 4 pools just activate it because they mostly don't care what SFs do, if Core looses the biggest market share, miners have to actively pick a node implementation. 1-Decentralize node implementations, 2-Decentralize mining. 3-Reject SFs, with each SF the attack surface only increases. Bitcoin doesn't need new toys, it needs stability and merchant/real world adoption, adoption is not failing because of lack of features, merchants and normies don't care about Defi or NFTS, Bitcoin already has what it needs to be used as money. We don't need distractions with Defi features, Bitcoin needs to stop, and people must focus on the ground work.

I just use Claude Sonnet most of the time, opus as advisor, sometimes fable for specific tasks. I cut session/context as fast as possible. finish a task, document it, start new session for a new task in the same project/workspace. also have auto compact firing earlier than default.

They can pay high fees, just not for an extended ammount of time, because the payment would be higher than the ROI over time, in fact inscriptions died of a lot since their peak. what we can't say is fees handle it and they say making them pay more does nothing, either fees handles it or they don't. The problem is the incentives, segwit gave data a 75% discount, taproot gave 4MB data, and now more data space in a block with op_return. I'm not saying bip110 is the solution to all evils, but we need to change the incentives and make data more expensive than it is now.

There is no solution to spam other than small blocks and fee market - small blocks and fee market are hinting at higher cost to the spammers, and we'll everyone, forcing encoding in pubkey forces just that, the difference is that it punishes only spammers, not valid txs. Spammers right now have a discount, so in a fee market they still pay with a discount VS normal txs. So when ppl say fees are for spam, well, they have a discount, and forcing to use pubkeys increases their costs.

we are here. There is no "correct" feed, clients will have differences in feeds, and can probably miss to fetch some notes, some clients are better than others on that regard but Nostr is a bit harder to get all the data and knowing you really got all the data. Pubky is model actually better in this regard imo.

sorry I wasn't clear. kind 4 DM is the old format and has that problem. the new format don't remember the nip nip17 I think, does not have that problem. Amethyst supports both types I think, there should be an icon in your Amethyst DMs that let's you activate/deactivate the new format.

nah. Current knots percentage represents well the ammount of people clearly against Core actions, many didn't agree but just didn't upgrade. knots reaching about 20% of the nodes is already huge. Even without 110 I think it would still be in this plateau. But over time Core will loose more market share.

the closest thing that exists now on Nostr is for clients to propagate the event that tells the network the relays you are using, and there are some relays that are specific just for those kinds of events like purplepage.es or something like that. But yes I guess nothing stops you from implementing something like that. I prefer a different approach for nostr based on DVMs.

idk, according to @nprofile…ewsn pubky tried to share these issues with nostr devs and got ignored or attacked. idk if technically there's anything preventing the same to be done on Nostr, i don't believe so maybe I'm wrong. But you will end up doing what pubky did I guess, using mainline dht for discovery. People may not like it but pubky design looks solid to me.
