The only way it could be, is if you believe bitcoin should be data storage - which is insane. If that is really your view there are hundreds of shitcoins I could recommend you instead.
A transaction is either monetary value from one peer to another or it is not. Core doesn’t get to decide what that line is… nodes do. That’s literally the premise of bip110.
Core has accepted money from epstien, created a hierarchy, there is evidence they made changes to satisfy Citreas demands and now there are runes, a “btc stable coin” and even a fucking memecoin ($dog) on top of the Bitcoin network.
No one is “censoring” anything. We are implementing a better system of nodes and users to create policy to stop non monetary data.

It’s insane to me that anyone would listen to this guy: he runs a bitcoin “think tank” which is in direct opposition to node consensus.
The deepest irony is that BPI lobbying Washington is fundamentally anti-cypherpunk. The whole point of Bitcoin was that you don’t need to lobby anyone. The protocol is the policy. I listened to this and still love Brett. Even though he sold all his bitcoin and is getting caught up in the whole “hijacked” Bitcoin narrative. I don’t think it has anything to do with intelligence though - just a misunderstanding of what Fiat is.
These bcashers are bitter that Lightning solved fast daily transactions. Also that Bitcoin thrived after the fork and BCH is worthless now (Ver/Patterson are even shilling Zano privacy coins now). They are caught up in an influencers ideas of what Bitcoin should be rather than understanding of how protocol consensus works.
The main problem I see with the arguments they lay out here is that in order to claim that Bitcoin is hijacked - I need to believe them and what their vision of Bitcoin is. That’s a fiat concept. Bitcoin is not made by any sort of decree. Just protocol consensus - and a hard fork is not consensus.
At the same time they have solid concerns about the attempt to centralize bitcoin via core - it’s just a complete nihilistic approach though. Their claim is essentially- Epstein tried to hijack it. Bc funds tried to hijack it. Core devs tried to hijack it. They didn’t get consensus so might as well just go back to the same old fiat system.
At the end they propose a terrible “privacy” coin that is completely built off the trust that a singular developer has claimed to solve the problem - the truth is “freedom dollar and zano” solve nothing and is a form of fiat currency at every level just like the dollar - just decree by developer instead of government.

It stops most ordinals and would kill the $dog meme coin which became feasible via cores contentious update - an update which actually deleted Bitcoin wallets btw, and was pushed through by hierarchy within core.
Protocol can mitigate spam but that’s not ever going to be a permanent solution with core or knots. Mat hill has an excellent solution for stopping spam via policy - he goes through it in this episode:

I’ve never used stables… I would never encourage anyone to use it. For beginners - thy should simply buy small amounts of bitcoin until they understand. Stables do literally nothing for the network, except cause confusion, give people the false sense of escaping risk, and give more power to the fiat system.
It’s completely unrealistic to think that they have any role in bitcoin adoption. They are literally propaganda for the state, designed to keep people from using decentralized money.

Rejecting bip 110 would be the real problem. Since core 30 was launched - Bitcoins’ largest liquidation event in history happened days later, lowest fear and greed index, Adam back was proven to be meeting Epstein, core devs made changes in order to satisfy VC funded and corporate interests (e.g., easier support for layer-2 rollups, metadata, inscriptions, NFTs, or DeFi apps on Bitcoin ) making Bitcoin susceptible to non monetary data storage.
I could go on for days….
It’s a soft fork, restricting rules. If you use Bitcoin as money, it’s a welcome and long awaited improvement - a return to what it was before it centralized at the node level.

Everything you just said is the opposite. Luke built an alternative client - that is literally decentralizing at the node level. His views on privacy are irrelevant here because Bitcoin was not originally intended to be private, that is simply a narrative to be debated (there good arguments for both sides here). However - Bitcoin was originated shipped implementing a fully public, transparent base layer.
Also ad hominem attacks on Kratter are irrelevant- especially since he’s been honest about his past life and addressed this fully.
The truth is that core is attempting to centralize Bitcoin at the node level and they failed. No amount of VC funding can change Bitcoin because Luke decentralized it. The main issue and misunderstanding from core worshipers is they treat Bitcoin like a zero sum game. It’s not. It’s based on time and consensus - authority, status or fiat wealth has no place in Bitcoin. They are unnecessary.

Just to be clear: BIP 110 filters spam.
Core is the entity that is funded and compromised - without knots, bitcoin would have been fully centralized by a “central” client and would allow them to compromise nodes. They even were insane enough to call it “Core” in 2014 - as if it were they were the central authority of a decentralized network.
Worse yet, for some reason @nprofile…m09e and his followers keep bringing up illicit material and threats to put this data on Bitcoin... it is impossible to do this with BIP 110.

Bip 110 is not a problem - it is code not narrative - if it fails and there is an attempt to make it consensus … then it becomes narrative.
Core is pure narrative and centralization of Bitcoin. Luckily Knots has saved the network by simply existing. Implementation of BIP 110 and using pure code and consensus gives us hope for the future. There are only two reasons:
One - he is being disingenuous - he does not want the average person to understand the difference between hard and soft forks.

The enemies of Bitcoin always try to control the network through narrative.
BIP-110 is not narrative — it is consensus.

Fair point. Acceptance of ignorance is the first step most don’t take.
I disagree that millions won’t engage in a tax revolt. I believe in humanity. At the same time You are right : This year is much too late.
But it is the time to prepare for a full on revolution at the ground level.
At some point we must make a choice.
We either feed our captors and allow them more control or we break the cycle of suffering. There is no in-between…
The next step is to not let them control your emotions - fear is not freedom in any sense and to set an example to your children of giving into fear is worse than slavery. They deserve a chance of freedom. These banks are stealing their future, and treating those who reject their religion as criminals.
The younger generation deserves hope. That’s not going to magically appear through legislation but through peaceful revolution and full on rejection of slavery.
