True for now we're always just a swap away from sending in whatever to whoever, the problem is always the reverse, if I take only XMR and you want to swap in pay using BTC, your coins can be immediately frozen at the swap level, but XMR users are always safe from this
so taking XMR directly is more for the signal or if you want to hold XMR yourself because otherwise it is only strictly necessary if this swap bridge is closed
but if the merchant is lightning only there's very little liquidity for swaps so this option is not always reliable in that case

people liked my old nostrudel fork because it just had a button that showed the address in a qr code, also had a "pay in wallet" because the bip21 auto-fills to send, then it's a plain tip button without the zap event and just opens the preferred wallet that accepts that URI scheme at the right place, things like this just get the address from bio "closer" to usage, without any advanced integration needed from the developer, which would work for btc onchain or alts too
but yeah not an actual integration, I'm remaking my client but will still use the simple idea, but this simple idea is enough for people to love it X users keep bugging platforms like odysee to do something like this and then it's an "integration", but to advance on a monero integration it could use payment IDs, or use the viewkey to generate subaddresses, then per event on send you know which event of yours got tipped, then from viewkey usage maybe a proper zap event could be created by using receipt proofs, etc, some people already experiment on this today

yeah the wording and delivery is very off, but if they want vouchers they can also use something based off ecash/cashu and x-402 to restrict access, then a server provides a service for the "voucher", and ta-dah, no overcomplicating, but he keeps tapping on the "zkEVM" sign for some reason I'm not sure where he wants to get with this

I wouldn't say so, litecoin markets itself as "the silver to bitcoin's gold" for being lighter cheaper faster etc, it did add a "privacy layer" called mweb but it works better for scaling than privacy, there is still a tx graph that can be observed and archived, etc, but that aside it's still in all major exchanges and hasn't been targeted for its "privacy capabilites" cause it's not that good, kinda like bitcoin's LN, it is a "privacy layer" but also doesn't make it a privacy coin

zcash is not decentralized, but monero is based
people were crying about monero's reorg attacks of a pool that only reached 30% hashrate, take a peek on what zcash's hashrate look like: https://miningpoolstats.stream/zcash
not to mention the dev tax, corporate structure, desperate compliance, if zcash was truly cypherpunk it would be 100% shielded for starters, and secondly it would be traded on p2p markets and be used on darknet markets, but it's only traded and used on regulated CeXs (which use transparent non-shielded addresses by default), that should tell enough
so in Vlad's case it prob means being compromised by "pumponomics" -> shill -> coin goes up -> "I was right!!" -> sell it -> restart cycle, but not actually using in circular economies which is what actual cypherpunks would do

yes today the only way to know is using subaddresses or integrated addresses, but the client will only know about the payment if they have your viewkey, a-lá xmrchat.com
another way would be the sender publishing a zap type of note with the txid and the secret tx key which proves a payment for everyone on nostr to see, but that requires implementing a wallet in the client and sending only through that nostr app's wallet
with fcmp around the corner it will be possible to use outgoing view keys for nostr instead (timestamped explainer: https://youtu.be/prNvJWILkoI?t=957 ), or use the new CARROT addresses with a payment-validator-only viewkey tier instead of (docs: https://github.com/jeffro256/carrot/blob/a17bd68a842cca984c9e40b4bf9ea3b17176116c/carrot.md#223-payment-validator-tier )

I think that makes sense if you consider them as essential but a payment channel on monero is at worse just a communication channel between 2 people, we get the bad taste from Bitcoin because it's seen as an essential scaling or payments solution and you have to get on it even inside a custodian, but XMR on-chain works just fine so no one would ever get pushed onto using solely payment channel networks for payments

knowing where the money goes is the same on xmr and LN, because it's possibly not the final destination.
So he can say "aha! This is the xmr output!" But it's used as decoy, or real spend, later, so since there's no utxo set you can't see where outputs are "sitting" or if they ever moved. His analysis is useless.
Meanwhile he'd say "aha! That node is not my LN node it was a proxy!" Which is the exact same as where the output "is sent to" but doesn't "end up at". So by that logic every xmr output is a proxy output, while not every LN payment is a proxy, which makes xmr more private by default

TLDR yes Zcash always had the "superior tech", but they took shortcuts to get there. Like a bodybuilder on steroids.
Zcash had a trusted setup, took dev taxes from coins in order to fund research and their mega corporation, etc. Monero is all natural all organic: voluntary research, voluntary funding, no coins ever taken from anyone, and always being trustless to use. And today in 2025 the XMR community still managed to develop even superior technology than ZCash
So when fcmp++ is live, zcash will be a thing of the past, never having a reason for it to be relevant ever again

Depending on who you ask they may see a better market for "shitcoins on monero" than "shitcoins on bitcoin" since they also get the privacy features, someone even forked monero to create a shitcoin for shitcoins on monero (zano)

That's shown in the github link as well since the development team of Mordinals themselves lost interest, 2 years ago they left it abandoned, but no one lost interest in transacting on the network since it continued growing without spam

So the main agreement is that: no one cares to spam monero, but a lot of people care to transact on it for monetary purposes (about 10% of bitcoin daily count) meanwhile a lot of people care to spam and inscribe data on btc, but not use it for monetary means that much, even when adding LN to the mix (XMR always stays on top with about 50% of volume on markets like shopinbit, mynymbox, silent link, coin cards, etc...)
