It was formed from deep trenches filled with crushed white chalk, some time between 1380 and 550 BC. After Loki murdered the Norse god Baldur, the other gods imprisoned Loki. In order to create restraints to hold the shapeshifter, Odin turned Loki's son Narfi into a huge wolf, who tore apart Nari (one of Loki's other sons). Then Odin bound Loki with Nari's entrails.

In Welsh folklore, Bedwyr (Bedivere) is one of King Arthur's two best friends, and one of his best warriors (despite being one-handed). Bedwyr lost his hand battling Gwrgi Rough-Grey, a dog-headed man (strangely reminiscent of how the Norse god Tyr lost his hand).

The weirdest Welsh Arthurian legend is "The Dream of Rhonabwy." A man in a rotting house dreams he meets an insane King Arthur who insults his size, and then Arthur plays a board game with his knight Owain while their vassals (both humans and ravens) slaughter each other.

When the Egyptian folk hero Setne broke into the tomb of Prince Naneferkaptah to steal a magic book, the prince's mummy challenged him to senet, an old Egyptian board game. The more Setne lost, the more the stone floor enveloped him. However, he used magic amulets to break free.

In Norse mythology, Odin made Loki his blood brother long ago and swore he would never drink ale unless it was also served to Loki. Nothing else is revealed about their bond; Frigg (Odin's wife) says that whatever the two had done together shouldn't be made public.

In Greek mythology, the Gorgons were three monstrous sisters with snakes for hair and a petrifying gaze. Two of them (Stheno and Euryale) were immortal while the third (Medusa) was mortal. The Roman poet Ovid claimed that Medusa was once human, which doesn't explain why her sisters are monsters.
