After selling insurance I was self employed and struggled to get a home loan in the states. So I did the reasonable thing and went to work for a small loc bank as a teller. They hired me as a loan officer.
I learned that when you walk into a a bank and deposit a 100k you can basically do whatever you want.
Our bank charged 2% above the fed rate and called it our prime rate. Mr. 100k paid the fed rate. Our bank charged loan origination fees, Mr. 100k did not. Our bank had to see and be a first or close second position on every bit of collateral often times way above what was lent out.
We just took Mr. 100k’s word for it. After his deal was paid he took out his 100k and went to the next bank.
We wrecked every small business owner in fees, interest, and busy work. People with great credit scores and no debt we wrecked.

I sold insurance for State Farm for a whopping 6 months. Having the head agent sit in my office and pressure me to call all my family was bizarre to say the least. (I didn’t give in).
One day I asked why we would ever sell whole life insurance to anybody when we could just help them open an IRA.
The answer was people feel like they have to pay life insurance they don’t feel like they have to co tribute to their IRA.
I quit the next day.
Lesson learned, BTC takes it to another level

Finally bit the bullet and permanently deleted Facebook/Instagram. Hadn’t posted on either for years, justified keeping for marketplace and connecting with family. Ultimately just turns into a major time suck.
I wish platforms like rumble offered more utility when it came to “how-to videos” because YouTube is another hunk of algorithmic time suckerey

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. It’s a financial/lifestyle sacrifice but through careful budgeting we’re able to keep my wife home. She’s with him all day everyday and as a result she’s way in tune with his emotional state and he’s a happy, confident baby that has his needs met well before they become a meltdown.

When I think about a mechanism of prevention for economic criminals, I think about the work I need to do to educate myself enough that I can reduce the impact of nefarious characters from taking advantage of my resources.
This takes a lot of brain power with fiat, not so much with btc.

I think the anarcho-capitalism is the catalyst to take the runaway money away from our irresponsible government and put it back in the hands of the people.
Eventually the deflation of btc and inflation of fiat meet and without a way to print itself into relevance the government will have no choice but to downsize and adopt a more libertarian inspired regime.

I can help provide you some info on running the node, it’s not complicated. Easiest plug and play way I’ve found take an old laptop clear the hard drive and put Ubuntu on it download bitcoin core from the App Store and hit go. Depending on how much space you have on the hard drive will determine if you run a full or partial node but either is fine. Mines running on an old 2011 MacBook.

I've given this a lot of thought, and I think the impacts of AI will only exacerbate the existing power dynamics. The wealthy controllers of production will use AI to create new ways to drive a wedge between the haves and have-nots, exploiting fears and scarcity to maintain their grip on power. (Very Marxist I know)
One potential way to counter this is through decentralized platforms like Bitcoin and Nostr, which offers a viable alternative to the traditional monetary and information systems that workers have no control over.
By providing a means for workers to opt out of the system and self-sovereign their lives, Bitcoin and Nostr can help to empower individuals and challenge the existing power structures.
As someone who's busy raising a family, working, and trying to stay informed about politics, I've found that running a Bitcoin node (I need to figure out a Nostr node next) is a way for me to maintain a permanent vote for free speech, privacy, and a fixed money supply.
No talking heads from the media needed to inform my decision. No fear of AI, inflation, the stock market, or politics when my mind is quiet.
I cast my vote by running the node (it cost virtually nothing) shut off the news, talk about decentralization to the point of being annoying to my friends, family, and coworkers and carry on with my life.

I use iOS parental settings to block safari and app downloading all together. I keep nostr but set a daily time limit (even though I don’t need to because it’s not full of clickbait, porn, and doom scrolling.) I have my wife out in the passcode so I don’t have it. It’s really the only way to smart phone.

My first introduction to Bitcoin was in 2014. I was driving from California to New York, picking up hitchhikers on Craigslist Rideshare along the way. One of the most memorable passengers I had was a guy I affectionately call 'Ginger Jesus', who I met in Sturgis, SD. We spent hours hypermiling my Honda Civic to Chicago, taking turns pushing the limits of fuel efficiency.
What stuck with me about Ginger Jesus was his enthusiasm for Bitcoin. He had made a small fortune as an early adopter and was fresh back from a trip to Brazil.
Despite his best efforts to educate me on the merits of cryptocurrency, I was too distracted by my own interests at the time - namely, binge drinking, experimenting with hallucinogenic drugs, and trying (unsuccessfully) to woo smart college girls who were way out of my league.
To be honest, I was also going through a bit of a faith crisis, having grown up Mormon and starting to question the teachings of all that I had been told to believe.
So when Ginger Jesus started preaching about the gospel of Bitcoin, I was skeptical - not just of the cryptocurrency itself, but of anything that seemed too good (or too cult-like) to be true.
Looking back, I wish I had listened more closely to what he had to say... but at the time, I was too caught up in my own world to care. Ah, good times.
Fast forward to today, and I'm amused by the irony of my own transformation. I used to be a missionary for the Mormon church, spreading the good word to anyone who would listen. But now, I find myself preaching a different kind of gospel - the gospel of Ginger Jesus, and the revolutionary power of bitcoin.
As I look back on my own journey, I think I finally understand how he felt - like a visionary, a trailblazer, and a true believer in something that has the potential to change the world. Who knew that a chance encounter with an awkward stranger from Craigslist would set me on a path to becoming a disciple of the almighty blockchain?

Hey nostr I’ve really been enjoying helping my friends and family dial in their budget.
It seems the first step to btc adoption is realizing you’re getting wrecked by the dollar and a budget helps clear that up.
I refuse to charge people who are struggling.
I thought I could do a podcast or web show but I think finance is pretty personal and I don’t want to exploit people for algorithmic click bait.
I want to help but I also want to build something that maybe I could creatively monetize later down the line.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
