I had to cave and install the app because I was having issues. I used a burner email and the app is *so* much worse than I thought.
Turns out, the reason I was having so much pain using it is that if you *dont* use the app, the default setting is maximum output (even if you try to manually adjust using the buttons on the actual pump.)
Even better, the app has an Enhance My AI button 😖

I, uh, really shot myself in the foot a bit with using a Mac for my work computer, mainly because it appears the x86_64 Linux support just... still doesn't work on Apple Silicon?
I was promised that Parallels can use Rosetta so I'd be able to emulate, but apparently that is only true for existing VMs.
I'm trying UTM for emulation, haven't closed the loop on if it's possible at all, but I'm pretty pissed that my "pro" edition of Parallels promised it would be able to do this and it can't!

Compared to yesterday's visual, this plot shows is that there were a huge number of licenses awarded in those outlier years, but many of them are no longer active or are duplicate licenses.
The raw numbers for 2008 and 2021 were 1822 licenses in UT and 1333 in GA.

Real quick #dataviz today. I took all the raw license data (~32000) entries, and plotted the aggregates by year and state in a stacked bar chart.
This is where it's really obvious about the outliers in UT and GA thanks to legislation changes.

Node package management is a special circle of hell...
Trying to update an ipywidget and I keep getting cryptic errors about workspaces, even though I'm not using a damn yarn workspace (and I have to use yarn because that's what the widget examples utilize with its yarn wrapped jlpm CLI tool.)
Internal Error: latex-widget@workspace:.: This package doesn't seem to be present in your lockfile; run "yarn install" to update the lockfile
Blowing away my yarn.lock file makes things worse

I work with node every day and this still happens (had a bunch of complaints this morning that my npm version was simultaneously too high and too low 🤦‍♀️).
It’s crazy that SOP when you suddenly get obtuse errors is to blow away all the packages and pray.
