Today I started the fourth coffee machine of the series, even though the third one is not done yet, because the light was so different I couldn't paint it, would have meant to change everything...
It's incredible how the hour of the day plays such a huge role in real life painting, you forget this when you are used to paint using photos as a reference. This is why it's so important to always find time to paint from real life, to experience time and light as a phenomenon.

Oil on canvas
On the path of reconnecting with oil as an artistic practice, this work brings together the slow materiality of painting with the ideas from the digital world that obsess me. The spark comes from a play on words and a nod to peer-to-peer systems, but the treatment is solemn, almost ceremonial. The playful aspect lies in the concept that activates the image; the gravity appears in the way it is painted: in the time, the attention, and the weight that oil gives to an idea that, at its origin, could have been just a fleeting meme.

I love realism in oil painting... it's not about copying reality. Yes, it is beautiful to develop skills...
But the real magic is different: it's a visual interpretation from the world, that goest through your eyes, across your preconceived ideas, into your hand and finally materializes in pigments and oil.

Again, I'm not that familiar with any specifics on this matter... My understanding is that here in Chile, they are even discussing on the contrary, to pass a law that prohibits the change in use of soil after a fire, for at least 30 years: “ley de prohibición de cambio de uso de suelo ". It has more to do with the idea of people burning woods so that they can later change the use of the land for agriculture or for building houses/apartments.
For national parks and other protected areas, the use of soil is restricted for preservation, some tourism and investigations. It can't be changed after a fire or any other catastrophe as such.

Maybe, I'm far from an expert nor have I searched deeply on the matter. There is something I don't quite get about the idea of an attack on sovereignty, it's that they gain nothing from setting national parks on fire... Burned national park is still national park, it doesn't change the use of soil or anything besides the natural tragedy.
I tend to think this is more a consequence of stupidity

There is not a strict consistency on to where the Patagonia starts...
"Patagonia in Chile does not have a single, official starting line, but most modern Chilean definitions place its beginning somewhere between the south of Los Lagos Region and the Huincul Fault further north."
To me, Patagonia starts like 300 - 400km south from Villarrica 😁 the weather changes, it's colder, windier and dryer, and also the Andes are lower...

I don't know much, but for what I know, when Israeli's finish their military service, they can take a paid holiday to different places they can pick, one is Chilean patagonia. It's similar to a school trip, these are young people and the budget is not that high. Many pick to come here, but it's not the only place they can choose.
In summer, temperatures rise a lot in Chile, and as the woods are more dry, they are very "burnable". It's very common that stupid people make mistakes (or do irresponsible shit) and fire spreads fast.
There are many regulations to prevent catastrophic events, if you are caught breaking the rules you face consequences as it is very serious...

You are right, is not about time, in this case it was all about trying new stuff out... I go to this workshop to push myself, to get out of my comfort zone and experiment. Is not that my goal is to paint fast, it is to never stop trying out new ways of creating.

So many 😅 I start by mixing colors on my palette with the spatula... but I usually never use them as such, I then mix them with the brush to create more colors before I actually paint the canvas.
For this exercise I was trying to do everything as fast as possible, with a big bristle brush. I was hoping to get it done in 1 session... but I'll need at least a second!
