What's the proper way to dispose of used chain degreaser? Obviously not the gutter/storm drains. It's got a lot of oils and solvents in it, so adding toxic chemicals to the sanitary sewer or septic doesn't seem right either.

Curious, so I checked eBay.
There's a 1978 version which is as I expect - the records have physical notches that will trip the music box harp in the head.
There's also a 2014 version with... mostly smooth records?? It it some electronic smart connected Bluetooth crap instead of a toy that you can understand how it works?

Is threads fully part of the fediverse or are they still walled off and things like replies and boosts don't work? There's a few threads accounts I follow here that never seem to have any interaction.
Is @npub13fk…z5hw better? They have a lot of media sources including some that are also on threads and they look like an actual mastodon server as opposed to whatever threads is and I'm guessing they're not owned by Meta. But the accounts there have far fewer followers.

I'm thinking about how a local tech community - people like me - could help this, perhaps by providing support to libraries or running a volunteer workshop. In that context, would you say the challenges are
the technology, i.e., linux just isn't up to the task of doing what casual users want
resources - libraries don't have the staff to help people make a change
training - staff isn't familiar with linux and can't support the community with it
publicity - the patrons who come asking for support don't know its an option, or don't want to change anything
institutional resistance - the library director or worse, financial supporters object to doing something different
or something else?

You said that the target audience isn't great troubleshooters. Granted I know linux well, but in my experience windows troubleshooting is worse, whether its from reading documentation, trying to figure out how things work, or looking for help online. For nontrivial problems that require touching settings or admin tools, online windows support forums are a dumpster fire, because you have a lot of people trying to be helpful and sharing what worked for then without understanding why it worked, so for a slightly different problem it has a good chance of making the problem worse, and windows also suffers from it being easy to install crapware that makes everything worse.

Do the community and library resources have the resources to help people convert their windows 10 computers to Linux, and to evangelize that it is a realistic option to begin with? There's lots of info online, but if people don't even know there's a choice they may never find out about it.
