So here is a story.. I became a father 11 days ago which has changed my life and it’s amazing.. so yesterday I was walking my son in the area in SA..
Where we live you often get “beggars” and homeless people who just lurk and you are kinda taught to ignore but yesterday I greeted a chap and then he said “sir, can I please ask you something?” I said sure! He politely asked if I had a spare pair of shoes for him as his souls were worn through and walking in them burnt his feet.. I asked what size and he said 11… I said give me 20 mins and I’ll be back.
Finished my walk and packed a bag full of clothes and shoes and some food and went back..
I then asked him his story - he’s been in JHB for 10 years working odd jobs, his ID book and bank card have been stolen as he’s been living in the local park during the day and at night sleeps in an old electricity box so he can be “safe”…
I asked him what his dream was - he said to be able to go home and see his mom and son which is 4 hours away - so I told him to meet me this morning at 9am at the same spot and I’ll take him to the bus station and buy him a ticket to get back home..
Perciavl is his name and I’d like to see if we can rally around and get enough sats to buy him a mobile phone and some data for me and him to keep in contact.

I’m saying most people would rather get involved in Kaspa because of unit bias not understanding sats.. they see the BTC price of $111k and the Kaspa price of $0.08 and without much studying of both options they spend $1000 and get vastly different units in their wallets..

Today was the first proper time in my career I felt the wrath of hiring based on color of skin instead of skills and merit base.
Developed a framework for a new idea within the organization and the person who is 100% to take the position and bring experience and knowledge into the space..
After the “higher ups” discussed it and agreed it was a great idea - they decided because of the color of the persons skin is wrong for their corporate image they’ll rather hire someone way less qualified and skilled to try roll out the framework and opportunity. Now given that what was presented was developed within a few weeks with the candidate..
The chosen person was introduced via email to the team at 14.30pm today - yet to have a response or even a call to say hello…
This is the tipping point!
Also side note - I offered to fund the person whom I put forward at my own cost for 6 months to prove my thinking and plan..
Corporate bullshit is insane!

The fact that new coins are produced means the money supply increases by a planned amount, but this does not necessarily result in inflation. If the supply of money increases at the same rate that the number of people using it increases, prices remain stable. If it does not increase as fast as demand, there will be deflation and early holders of money will see its value increase. Coins have to get initially distributed somehow, and a constant rate seems like the best formula.

This adds an incentive for nodes to support the network, and provides a way to initially distribute coins into circulation, since there is no central authority to issue them. The steady addition of a constant of amount of new coins is analogous to gold miners expending resources to add gold to circulation. In our case, it is CPU time and electricity that is expended.

The incentive may help encourage nodes to stay honest. If a greedy attacker is able to assemble more CPU power than all the honest nodes, he would have to choose between using it to defraud people by stealing back his payments, or using it to generate new coins. He ought to find it more profitable to play by the rules, such rules that favour him with more new coins than everyone else combined, than to undermine the system and the validity of his own wealth.

The steps to run the network are as follows: 1. New transactions are broadcast to all nodes. 2. Each node collects new transactions into a block. 3. Each node works on finding a difficult proof-of-work for its block. 4. When a node finds a proof-of-work, it broadcasts the block to all nodes. 5. Nodes accept the block only if all transactions in it are valid and not already spent. 6. Nodes express their acceptance of the block by working on creating the next block in the chain, using the hash of the accepted block as the previous hash. #bitcoin

A block header with no transactions would be about 80 bytes. If we suppose blocks are generated every 10 minutes, 80 bytes * 6 * 24 * 365 = 4.2MB per year. With computer systems typically selling with 2GB of RAM as of 2008, and Moore's Law predicting current growth of 1.2GB per year, storage should not be a problem even if the block headers must be kept in memory.

Although it would be possible to handle coins individually, it would be unwieldy to make a separate transaction for every cent in a transfer. To allow value to be split and combined, transactions contain multiple inputs and outputs. Normally there will be either a single input from a larger previous transaction or multiple inputs combining smaller amounts, and at most two outputs: one for the payment, and one returning the change, if any, back to the sender. #bitcoin #perfectdesign #scarcity

We have proposed a system for electronic transactions without relying on trust. We started with the usual framework of coins made from digital signatures, which provides strong control of ownership, but is incomplete without a way to prevent double-spending. To solve this, we proposed a peer-to-peer network using proof-of-work to record a public history of transactions that quickly becomes computationally impractical for an attacker to change if honest nodes control a majority of CPU power. #satoshi #bitcoin #hardmoney

You make a valid point.. I believe there is a very fine line between living and spending and delaying gratification… like between 0.25-1BTC I believe one should wait at least 10 years before touching your stack..
If you have north of 25BTC then you are golden.. guys with thousands obviously can do whatever the fuck they want.. but low time preference and if possible live off the spare fiat you have that’s not invested in BTC and make it work..
