I’m still glad that some people are choosing the Fediverse and Bluesky; they provide more freedom than the big companies do.
But they don’t have the monetization and portable identities of Nostr. And all you need in the US to get some sats is a Cash App account.

It’s so sad that Web3 had to become associated with less-than-ideal ventures such as NFTs and infinite memecoins, what some bitcoiners call sh🤬coins.
Right now you could see it as Web1+2; the sovereignty and openness of Web1 with the immediacy and ease of Web2.
That experience is represented well on Nostr; i just don’t know how we get people to realize that Nostr and Bitcoin are a good thing.

Nostr’s versatility also helps fight encrapification.
@nprofile…tzjn created a custom note type for the Bitchat geohash rooms. There’s probably tons of note types beyond just the main ones used by the (micro)blogging apps.
It has a similar spirit to the AT Protocol (Bluesky’s architecture), but is more decentralized

I've mostly been following XMTP, another messaging technology developed within the Ethereum community. It's not a single app like Session is but there are multiple apps like Nod and Wave that support XMTP's technology. They even made their own app called Convos that is one of the most versatile single chat apps I've ever seen, designed around invite only chats with the ability to delete the entire chat for everyone.
Sad that Session is having trouble staying afloat, I hope XMTP and SimpleX can keep going if Session fails :<

I tend to use a Nostr browser extension (nos2x, Nostr Connect, etc) for desktop so I don’t have to keep my iPhone up. The remote thing is good for quick temporary sign-ins though.

Sadly the TwiXter importer on ownmyposts is slightly broken… I sometimes use it if I need to sync my Nostr profile with recent Twitter events.

It’s so cool that @nprofile…hp8e has no fees. I wanted to switch from using Macadamia to Sovran as my iOS Cashu wallet but Sovran can’t import a wallet.
So I just made a Cashu transaction from my Macadamia wallet to the Sovran wallet to move my balance over.

I use Nostr, Mastodon, and Bluesky… but Nostr is the only one where your existence is spread across servers
Mastodon and bsky still have the issue where the owners of whatever server you made your account with can still wipe out your account. On Nostr you hold your keys, and you can spread your posts across multiple servers to avoid one server being able to end your existence

Will you add Bluesky or Mastodon support at some point? Those apps allow you to gather MANY more posts from someone's account than Twitter does since they're designed with openness in mind

I'm using my old Galaxy Tab S7 with custom firmware so I can run a more modern Android version, and for some reason Google's autocorrect is stricter than Apple's

Honestly they should make it where if only one device can carry the chat database, then a desktop or server should be the primary device and then a phone or other devices can link to it. Their current solution of linking a mobile to a desktop doesn't really work (at least on iOS) because mobile devices have issues running background processes.
I've never tried Session, and I don't know many people who use SimpleX. I do like SimpleX's idea of no accounts though (Session has accounts).
