For those who do not know, the local elections are local council elections in England, while they are local parliament elections in Wales and Scotland.

I have found a bug, which I want to make sure you are aware of.
At least once a day, I see double notifications, where the same notification appears twice in my notifications list.
This happens both when using Mastodon through Ivory (picture 1), and through the Mastodon web interface (picture 2), so this is clearly a server side issue.
I think this has been happening since at least the end of 2025, because I reported it to Ivory months ago.
Not a showstopper, but still annoying.

Many are asking me to put my videos on PeerTube, but every time I look at it, I see an overly technical user experience that I do not trust to take off.
What we need is for Mastodon to become a video platform, so THIS social medium which has now matured and people clearly love, gets robust video features.

Trump’s time is running out.
Without congressional approval, Trump chose to attack Iran on February 28. This means Trump has 60 days to complete his unauthorized military action in Iran as defined in the U.S. War Powers Resolution of 1973.
February 28 plus 60 days sets the deadline to April 29.
This means, Trump has 24 days left. Obviously, a criminal president will not pay attention to this, but since the war is so unpopular, Congress could use the deadline to force an end to the Iran mess.

Just a few days later the Danish right wing parties lose a third candidate. This time it is Tim Larsen who leaves Borgernes Parti.
The Danish right wing parties already had a difficult election result of just 77 seats vs 84 seats, and now they only have 74 seats.
It looks increasingly likely that the next Danish government will be a center-left government. Perhaps the Social Democrats plus Moderaterne plus Radikale plus SF with outside support from Enhedslisten.

Just one week after the Danish general elections, the 12 parties have already lost two members of parliament.
In Borgernes Parti, elected member of parliament Jacob Harris has been excluded after 4 days, because he is under police investigation in relation to a bankruptcy. Borgernes parti now has 3 seats left.
Meanwhile Liberal Alliance has excluded Cecilie Liv Hansen, allegedly because her boyfriend is a known drug dealer. The party now has 15 seats left.
Both MPs will become independents.

Tuesday the Danes elected 86 female members to the Parliament, the Folketinget. This means Denmark is now led by 48 percent women.
I too voted for a woman. Not because she was a woman, but because she was the most qualified.
In general, there has been far fewer political scandals with women over the years, and it has been my impression that more women are well prepared, they are more hard working, while some men are more focused on press coverage and social media visibility.

Another American district turns blue — and this one is remarkable!
Trump's home Mar-a-lago is located in Florida's state House District 87, which has now held a special election because Republican Mike Caruso has since stepped down.
In 2024 Republicans won this seat by 19 percentage points. But in Tuesday's special election, Democrat Emily Gregory won this seat by 2 points — that is a 21 point shift in support for the Trump party.

Well… that is a first. In yesterday’s parliamentary elections in Denmark, painter and provocateur Kristian von Hornsleth tried to bribe voters into voting for the Enhedslisten party.
On his Instagram account he offered artworks for votes if voters photographed their vote, proving that they had indeed voted for Enhedslisten.
Obviously, this is a violation of the Danish penal code and punishable by up to 2 years in prison.
Yesterday, Hornsleth was arrested and charged by Copenhagen Police.

Being more than 1000 years old, The Kingdom of Denmark is a country of traditions. So after yesterday's general election, today it is time for The King's Round.
The leader of each elected party arrives at Amalienborg Palace, where they present a document informing the King of their preference for whom to form a new government.
The person supported by most seats in Parliament is then appointed as The King's Investigator, who will lead the negotiations to form the next government of Denmark.

Congratulation to the left wing parties of Denmark! 🇩🇰
With 99 percent of the votes counted, the left is in a far stronger position to form a government than the right.
1. They have 84 seats VS 77.
2. They are fewer parties who need to agree (5 VS 6).
3. 58 or their seats belong to just two parties (S and SF).
Now the negotiations begin, and anything is possible. But right now, the results look like a left wing future for Denmark, with a focus on the environment, the climate, and education.

Denmark leans left.
With 88 percent of the votes counted, votes are now coming in from the big cities, and it looks increasingly difficult for the right wing parties.
The far right nationalists of DF have been victorious, taking 11 new seats in parliament. But it may be in vain as the right wing block as a whole is now behind the left with just 77 seats to 84.
Clearly, the left wing parties have reason for optimism, but it will be another hour or two before a clear winner is announced.

Today is election day in Denmark. Voters of the kingdom will elect 179 representatives for the Parliament, including two members elected in Greenland and two in The Faroe Islands.
One thing is certain: The current centrist government will not continue, as all three parties will lose a significant number of seats, including the Socialdemocrats who may be reduced by one third.
Most likely we will see a center-left government or a right wing government backed by the far right nationalist parties.

The Senate confirms DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin in a 54-45 vote, helped along by Democratic Senators John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, and Martin Heinrich of New Mexico.
During his hearing, Mullin was criticized strongly by Republican Senator Rand Paul for often wanting to solve problems with violence — something Rand Paul did not think the DHS needed more of.
Mullin replaces Kristi Noem, who was fired after the murders of Alex Pretti and Renee Good in Minneapolis.

What is the election process in your country?
In Denmark, 1-2 weeks before election day, each voter receives a physical token in the mail proving they are eligible to vote.
To make sure everyone gets the chance to vote, the state sends out an SMS to everyone that the elections are on Tuesday.
We then bring the token to the voting hall, and a volunteer ensures that the token is listed on the voter roll.
Finally we get the ballot and for privacy, we vote inside a box the size of a phone booth.

Every time Trump describes the Iran war as complete, he reveals that in his mind, he is at war with a person or a group of people, and seeing them die convinces him the war is over.
What he fails to realize is that he is at war with an idea — The Islamic Republic — and the reason that idea became a problem is, it is in the heads of tens of millions.
In that sense, this is Trump’s Vietnam — only with an enemy population 4 times larger and considerable more enemy wealth and weaponry.
