no, it's not the known old behavior. There is something new since yesterday and only WhatsApp in GrapheneOS is affected. Probably only installations without play services.

if your phone is not officially supported, better try other custom ROM. I don't see good community support for unofficial GrapheneOS. Android is not linux. The cross compatibility of devices is very limited.

warum willst du das FP3 nach Support-Ende nicht weiter nutzen? Sicherheitsgründe? FP3 war noch nie besonders sicher. Und die dafür verfügbaren Alternativ-Betriebssysteme erhöhen die Sicherheit nicht wesentlich.
Schau einfach, daß du deine Apps und das Webview aktuell hältst. Im Gegensatz zu open source Lösungen kümmert sich bei dir wohl der Play Store um solche Sachen.

yes, there are pros and cons. But custom ROM without GApps is such a major privacy jump, the different flavours seem almost equivalent.

People try to draw a line between LineageOS and GrapheneOS. The real line in android usage is between GApps and noGApps. Every usage of Google play services is on the GApps side. #microG for me is a enhancement of the noGApps use case.

how can it be illegal for Google to provide information about the device condition. Or app developers to use that information for decision about provided services. kuketz vergleicht iOS mit play-services-freien Android custom ROM. Ist klar, daß iOS da wie ein zu enger Käfig wirkt. Aber im Vergleich zum Standard Android vom Smartphones Hersteller (mit Google Accout) empfinde ich iOS immer noch als Befreiung.
