Best or favourite picnic foods? What do people like. I stuck at sandwiches... not keen on scotch eggs. Even the sandwiches people's taste differ wildly. Some I considering are bacon, lettuce and tomato..... but the bacon goes little hard if not fresh out of the pan and cooled. Prawn cocktail with cucumber but can make bread bit soggy. I guess there is the traditional cheese and onion but it bit old hat. Ham and tomato? Hmmmm. Or urm pasta salad ... I stuck.

Happy New year, heb,feart and heir flick lol 😆 I'm doing alright ta. In between air frying and dementia parent I don't be online as much these days but do miss you all. Oh oh.... did the whole xmas dinner in the air fryer... potatoes in bottom drawer and carrots top drawer and other drawer pigs in blankets and stuffing balls. Bought ready cooked chicken even though I could have done that in there too but blah.... and it just sprouts and sweet corn on the stove and oh yes... got tiny packet of sliced german smoke ham. Easiest dinner i've ever done.
Also... printed out my own personalized air fryer chart with settings, hahaha.... thinking I need to laminate it though lol. Want to attach a photo of the roasted potatoes but have a feeling I already did that few weeks ago when I first mastered them.

Omg same here. We have one cabinet top spare which we use while cooking but it was discounted and I just can't bend so planned to put in our back room on tv stand hahaha.... so it arrived and temp had it on kitchen table.... back turned for like minute in other room and dementia mum is trying to lift it off table so had to move it stick so wouldn't try that again, so ended up on this one free space that gets used all the time but worked out so well there, so i've left it. Just working around it some how. It is a pain when doing stove top stuff to have no where to put anything but I make sure now draining board clear and table and it working out.... I just so enjoying being able to use something I don't have to bend for.
Some of the things I done and got timings and settings perfect for:
Whole chicken 1.1kg
Chicken fillets with oil and spices (so juicy)
Large pie (pastry already cooked) & small individual frozen pies with uncooked pastry
Oven chips and home cut/ chips (experimentation needed but got them perfect
Roasted potatoes
Tray bakes with med veg
Sausages (again took few tries for perfection)
Bacon
Pastries
Pizzas
Toasted inside of rolls
Quorn tenders and quorn burgers
Battered frozen fish (unreal how crispy)

Oh Heb I have new "toy"... first ever air fryer and it bloody amazing. Everything I do I run by Grok first and he tells me times and settings. It Cuisinart tri zone (three drawers). Does nearly everything to perfection and stuff that not as good me and Grok have heart to heart and work it out together. Muhahaha. Never using oven again. Well stopped using it anyhow as can't bend down to it no more so... weeeeeeee

Has anyone ever had any success with doing roast roast potatoes in an air fryer? I've been experimenting and just can't get them to brown enough. Closest I come has been 23 minutes (cut small) at 200... drawer rack bit out so potatoes can sit in fat as cook. Didn't par boil as they easily cooked in middle after 20 mins.... but did rinse as youtuber said to do that but I read somewhere else that slows down the browning. Sigh.... life is hard.
Got first air fryer last week and had success with oven chips, roasted carrots, chicken fillets with oil and spices (never had chicken so juicy) and small chicken pies and reheating pasty. Oh and apart from two air fryer drawers it has like wide low bottom drawer which does pizzas rather well.
Quite pleased with test runs so far but bit of learning curve. I run my times and settings pass Grok who has been pretty spot on except for roasties. Takes up huge bit of kitchen space as well. Least I no longer have to bend down to oven no more.

Cheers caffs. Yes prob same as tums. It been driving me mad... up all night, night before last. Have seen improvement after giving up fizzy drinks recently. Just took a prescription equivalent that dad had to take with some of his other tablets and that's brought fantastic relief this morning.... might have to get myself some of that from gp. Been causing me to cough a lot to at times.
How's things with you Caffs? Been checking in with you all from time to time. Not been here much as looking after parent with dementia and my God that's time consuming.... but missed all my little minions. Lol

I come down with everything I come into contact with whole life but (going to sound like advert now)then when visiting cousin and kids I started using Vicks first defense.... basically a fine mist nasal spray that you use after being in contact with others with germs or first sign of symptoms.... it basically coats the germs in nose before they can multiply.... stops them in tracks. Lessens viral load so body sees it off. Least worth a try. I swear by it.

Basically a roo with 2tbsp flour and butter.... then 625ml of water with one beef and one chicken stock cube dissolved in.... thicken bit, then 1/4 tsp each of
Paprika
Dried Basil
Dried Sage
Onion powder
Garlic powder
Dried Corriander
Dried Marjoram
Cayenne pepper
Dried Oregano
Ground pepper
Salt
Then I misread the recipe. He said 1 tbsp of white wine vinegar at end. I only put in 1 tsp.
I wanted to find the proper link to recipe, to give proper credit, but mislaid it for now.
Also said unsalted butter but I used salted. Funny thing is I don't recall adding the salt but must have cos tasted great. Then simmer until lovely and thick.

So I found a KFC copycat gravy recipe online. Most are the same with four ingredients, but just one I found had 16 (Eeek). Anyhow tried it this evening and OH MY GOD it fabulous. Heating it up tomorrow to have with my KFC chicken bucket. Those fuckers not having 3 quid off of me for tiny tub. It's really good. And got loads of it, and I worked out it cost to make, at most, 70p. :ablobreach:

Same here Macha but then I seen video online of three blokes/cyclists on Balmoral Estate (it's very long, had body camera on) and 3/4 of way through they see line of big land rovers going past ...they pull over to side and joke funny if it was the king etc although they seen kids in back..... couple mins later they actually stop to talk to a man with walking stick by himself and it's the king. He stays talking for a bit and it's adorable.
I'll try and find it later and add to post with time stamp. I like him more after that video.

So I got one and had it on all night for past two on lowest setting (which is silent) and sinus probs and annoying cough related to it cleared up after first night. Well pleased. Sensor says air is already very good though so was bit worried it wouldn't make any difference. Got it from amazon for £139. Deal going on at time as usually 169. Levoit 100s. :blobcheer:

In fairness Becs all buses in london run that regular. Also most stops have several different route that overlap at times. If I wanted to say get from my childhood home to Elephant and Castle.... one bus stop in one direction had 3 different numbers that would in there before going off in different directions and other way out of house had two route that also passed there. And that's a fair old distance.
