I just finished the audiobook of #Enshittification by @npub1fdr…lvhs . It was good! I read his blog intermittently so a lot of the arguments and info in the book weren't new but I like how everything was organized, the hopeful message, and I definitely learned some new things! It was great to hear it read in his own voice too, you could really feel his passion and righteous outrage coming through. Would recommend!

I am still using nearlyfreespeech.net as my domain registrar & DNS, which works perfectly well and has reasonable pricing but I have gotten a bit uncomfortable with the extremely libertarian policy they have towards what type of content they will host, so I am thinking of switching when my domain registration expires on the 18th. Does anyone have recommendations for a registrar that has competitive pricing, DNS, whois privacy, and doesn't seem like a slimy business?

If you like sketch comedy, anything by Mitchell and webb is golden.
I really enjoyed Scott Pilgrim Takes off on Netflix which is sort of a comedy action anime show. It's better if you are familiar with the original comic/movie but it can be enjoyed without.
There are a couple dramedy films I enjoyed recently too: Sacramento (featuring the city I live in!) and A Real Pain.
I also really enjoyed Poor Things. Not sure if it's a comedy but I laughed a lot.

I'm Jewish, I have family in Israel and I lived with my partner in Tel Aviv for 3 months, a decade ago. But I'm outraged at the atrocities Israel has been committing and I'm infuriated both by people who conflate opposition to Israel with antisemitism, as well as those who use hatred of Israel as a justification for actual antisemitic acts. Being Jewish and a supporter of Israel are not the same thing. And I see it as the duty of Jewish people everywhere to stand against genocide.

This is a tough one as I thought Shaun of The Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Scott Pilgrim were all great movies. Haven't seen the others. I voted for Shaun of the Dead, although I think Scott Pilgrim has the best soundtrack hands-down.

More women have stepped forward to accuse #NeilGaiman of rape and sexual misconduct. He was one of my favorite authors but after the allegations came out last summer I feel I can no longer support him in good conscience. I think he believed he was too rich, powerful, and famous to have to face consequences for his actions. Let's show him that's not the case.

Any suggestions of a nice #eBook store for recent release mass market books that isn't #Amazon #Kindle? (Kindle device compatible is a plus, but at a minimum it should have mobile apps for iOS/Android. Not looking to buy a whole new dedicated e-Reader. Looking for another software recommendation, I would like to find a decent #AWS #S3 compatible GUI file transfer client for #Linux that can:
- List buckets, upload & download files
- Set ACLs and generate Signed URLs
- Customizable endpoint to use with non-AWS hosts
- Available as a Flatpak or vanilla binary
Basically, Cyberduck, but for Linux.

Okay, I am very reticent to pull off this particular band-aid but let's say hypothetically I wanted to replace #AWS with another managed host of some kind, mostly for low-traffic static asset/site hosting with HTTPS, and maybe periodically running a #Minecraft server or something for very cheap, maybe bulk data archiving (glacier), any suggestions for companies that don't suck or are at least less bad than #Amazon at comparable cost?

Thanks, this sounds promising, I'd be willing to tinker with a script to get this to work. However, I tried a vanilla OPML import to @npub17lf…3uhj and I am struggling a bit with the UX because I have 179 subscriptions. I feel like the UI is not really designed to handle this many. The side menu is populated with every single podcast. If I tag a podcast it appears at the BOTTOM of this list and there's also no way to filter the subscriptions list by tag that I can see.

thanks, but that doesn't solve the migration issue. I can import OPML from my current podcast app into most podcasts apps but that doesn't bring the read/progress states. Hundreds and hundreds of episodes worth of data would be lost during the migration which doesn't seem worth it to me right now.

Considering switching #podcast apps. It's nice that #OPML exists but dear lord, why does it only include #RSS feed links and no information about progress/read states for any individual episodes? This would be hours of manual work if I wanted to copy all that information over. How is this the standard everyone settled on? Ugh.
Also it's looking like my two best options for an #Android app that supports multi-device sync are #Playapod and #PocketCasts (which is made by #Automattic - yikes!)

#UFO50 released today! It's the long-awaited next game from Mossmouth (creators of #Spelunky.)
They describe it thusly: "UFO 50 is a collection of 50 single and multiplayer games that span a variety of genres, from platformers and shoot 'em ups to puzzle games, roguelites, and RPGs. Our goal is to combine a familiar 8-bit aesthetic with new ideas and modern game design."
And all these games were supposedly made by the same fictional company. Can't wait to dive in!

In general I agree with you although recently I have actually been finding uses for the "metaverse", not in the big Meta corporate bet aspect of it, but more for niche online communities meeting up in VRChat. I'm in a Star Trek meetup group there (we have our own uniforms and words but visit other worlds too.) It's also very popular with the furry community and there's definitely some overlap. But yeah I don't think this is really what Zuck had in mind, lol
