Anyone blogging on something that has fediverse *and* atmosphere support that they are happy with right now? I feel like I need to start longform writing again and am not super happy with any of the solutions I have used myself. WordPress and Ghost both have integrations into of some sort on both networks but they also feel too boated for what I want. I am currently most attracted by Leaflet but it's atmosphere only as far as I have seen.

using the same terminology across the two sides makes this a bit more confusing. There is a lot more to the atmosphere as well. Like hundreds of different pieces of software now that use different parts of the stack. and Blacksky is not dependent on Bluesky's labeling system or moderation. There is an interdependence of course in that if an account on Bluesky's PDS gets deleted by Bluesky before it has moved to another PDS Blacksky can't do anything about it.

There are at least 1,940 PDS servers (where the data is being stored) - number from https://arewedecentralizedyet.online but there are only two AppViews (more like a streaming firehose of live posts)
There are other ways of accessing the posts tho without the AppViews which some client apps have now implemented
there are plenty of reasons to not trust Bluesky, the company, its protocol design, or its funding, but shouldnt we do it from a place of trying to understand what is actually going on?

What are your favorite alternative forms or structures for large complex systems? Foundations and Non-profits don't seem like they are working for us very well. Neither do states and sole proprietorships. Venture backed startups certainly aren't it. So what does that leave us? How can we manage the commons without these unjust structures weighing us down?

Since Brave's CEO (and inventer of JS) Brenden Eich has made political contributions to outlaw gay marriage, and the whole reason Brave even exists is cause he was pushed out of Mozilla for this homopobia, why are so many people still ok with using it? He apologised but it doesn't seem like he has ever took any actions to show he has changed. It would be "Brave" of him to sponser some gay weddings or something.

Just had a conversation with a house mate about how they signed up for a class at a Berlin uni to learn `R` and the professor announced at the beginning of the course that this skill has now been fully replaced by AI now so the class was switching to be about how to use Claude instead. I asked if at least they explained anything about open weight models as an alternative and the house mate hadn't heard of the term before and that the instructions were to just sign up for Claude.

Went to pick up my bike that I locked up in front of a very busy intersection of Karl Marx Str. Last week and it is no longer there. I saved it from going to the landfill last year when I went to pick up a set of rubber stamps being given away on a free stuff group. It happened to be at a psychiatrist's office who had died and workers were clearing out all of his stuff and putting it in a milf van to bring to the dump and there was a very nice bike stacked ontop of all the stuff with a bent rim.

its times like this that I wish we had first class support for plugins or extensions. This ability should not be locked behind a wall for only people who can run scripts to get missing features. Most of the fediverse is running on managed hosting in the first place :(

What if there was a feature on the fediverse that when you followed someone that your server didn't know about, you could click a button that says something like, request full federation, and that would run a query to backfill them onto your home server. So you get the full history like that server had been following the account since the beginning. It could be scoped so the admin of the instance only allowed this ability to spesific people, and maybe it could enter a review mode first.
